I have a cart full of products that I've purchased through AG that I use to detail daily drivers for family/friends(just an addictive hobby at this point) - these products all have a time/place but I always seem to be reaching for the UC. It's easy to use, inexpensive, and available just about anywhere. I can't be the only one, right?
 
I totally agree with you. UC is one of the most under-rated product out there. For $10 a bottle, it's a bargain because it removes swirls fast and finishes the paint pretty well. Can't go wrong. And I'm sure Meguiar's knows what they're doing.
 
Count me in as one that's:
"gotta whole lotta luv" for Meguiar's UC.

Yep, I moved to that and ultimate polish as my 2 step go to from a "boutique" brand, love the stuff.
 
Definitely a tool everyone should have in there arsenal.

Its a good compound, but I actually have not picked it back off the shelf since I have discovered so many others. It was the first one I used with the PC7424XP when I bought it, but since then I have tried and stuck with several others, such as M105, WG Uber, Pinnacle etc.

And as far as price or value, here is what I have learned with OTC consumer products. While often they are less expensive, they are sold in smaller sizes and tend to be less concentrated. I am not saying that is the case with UC (havent used it in so long). Dont be fooled with what seems to be a lower price, because often, per use, it is actually twice as expensive. If I do remember correctly, I might have used twice as much UC to polish a car as I used M105.
 
I moved from UC and UP to Menzerna and moved back to Megs again finding I have a preference to SMAT over DAT.
 
I'm just a noob, but thanks to everyone here I was able to this with Ult. Compound and a Harbour Freight DA.
 
What's cool about Meguiar's is that their M105 compound,
(as well as other "M-Series" products), can be found at
most of the auto parts stores in my area of the Country.

So...I ask:
That puts it (them), also, in the OTC consumer-product
category...doesn't it?

Good point. However, in the auto parts stores where it is sold in my neck of the woods, its on the shelf or in cabinet where the body shop type products are sold, not in the car care aisle with all the other polishes and waxes. So in that sense they are targeting it more to professionals.

Yep! No need for expensive boutique stuff when the Ultimates work fine.

I decided to try WG TSR and FG a few months ago and didn't see any advantage. Once they're done, I'm going back to the Ultimates. 👍🏽
 
Agreed, OP. It's a versatile and capable product that has a long track record of proven performance. According to Michael Stoops, it is their default correcting product for Meguiars' tnog events. My old PC, Hex Logic pads, and Ultimate line are like an old pair of comfy jeans. Predictable, and familiar.
