Painting over original paint is not necessarily the cause unless it is a bad OEM pain job. It sounds to me more like bad prep.

It will need to get repainted. If the paint is a solid color, then you might be able to sand the clear-coat with some very fine sand-paper (2000 grit) to make a smooth transition between the color-coat and the clear-coat and then polish the hell out of it but in the end, it will need to get...

Not my cup of tea. I like Invisible Glass but I don't care for wipes in general. I think I'll be sticking with good old microfibers. Having said that, everyone has to do what works for them.

It depends where the dent was. If it was in the middle of the hood, the color coat would get blended out but the entire hood would get a coat of clear (at a good body shop anyway).

It's a great tool. It can't quite get between the front wheel and brake caliper but other than that, it can get deep into a lot of places your hand can't. It can also come in handy when cleaning an engine. I definitely recommend it.
