    Removing Bear Spray

This might be a Montana-only issue, but a potential customer called asking if I could remove bear spray...he punctured a can under his driver's seat. I'm thinking it's an organic, so removing the seat, and doing a full shampoo should be a start with a follow up with the ozone machine. Anyone...

Do you believe a vehicle can be too dirty for a waterless / rinse less / quick detail wash etc

Here in Montana, especially in the muddy spring time, no way I can do waterless. But, I did my wife's bug last night after doing a real wash a couple of weeks ago. It had some road oilish stuff, but safe enough to do waterless. I'd say at least for 80% of the cars I'll do, water is my only...

    Menu feedback

Yeah, I wasn't originally going to do interior only, but in my area, I basically have to, due to customer demand, especially this time of year, people don't want to spend the money on the exterior only to have it ruined the next week, but they'll get the inside cleaned.

I agree as well. I'd do something like: "I'll treat your vehicle like it was my own using the best techniques and tools available. I am located on the East side of Cincinnati and can offer shuttle service for most customers. Feel free to contact me by phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX or by email at...

    Detailing Trailers

It also depends on your water/electrical sources. Here, I really have to carry water with me, and I need a generator. I'm not putting a tank and carry gennie in the back of my yukon, so the trailer works better for me. The good thing is you can put a hitch on almost anything (uhaul), and can...

This idea brought me LOTS of Business! Lots!!!!

Nice, can we steal it and do our own? Shooting that isn't hard, you just need a decent HD camera, which most phones are and decent lighting. Put it on a tripod over your head (I would guess), then shoot the video in real time, and change the speed in post.

    Detailing Trailers

you can use a site like claz.org to search craigslist and other listings, I found a lot of cheap full trailers that people are selling used. I built mine (still doing it) out of a trailer (open) I already had. Depending on where you are, you can buy used enclosed 7x14's for fairly cheap. Had I...

Current business owners: if you had it to do over again, would you?

I just put it back up on my normal and mobile versions, contact page and both of my detailing menu pages. At the very least, it might get a soft commitment from someone who doesn't want to call (I actually do a lot of business by text). I'll report back on it later under a new thread, sorry for...

Current business owners: if you had it to do over again, would you?

I actually tried that, but currently have it commented out on my site, primarily because it seems most customers don't know enough about detailing to make the first appointment without a real conversation, so the snap appt doesn't help. It might be good for follow up appointments. I'm just...

It does seem a little low for my area too, but I presume you know your customer base better than I do. One thing I've been struggling with, is how complicated to make it. Renny's book really talks about simplifying stuff. You have a lot of add-on options, and I have quite a few as well...

    Grass in Trunk Carpet

Thanks guys, I'll give the brush a try first and see how it goes.

    Grass in Trunk Carpet

I'll give that a shot, thanks! Doing a car tomorrow that's supposed to be pretty dirty, so that'll give me a chance to try some techniques.

    Grass in Trunk Carpet

Possibly. are you talking about the ones that sort of has a bunch of rubberish fingers? The biggest challenge with stuff like grass (and I guess pet hair) is that is finds its way beneath the fibers, so it sort of becomes part of the carpet.

    Grass in Trunk Carpet

I do in the shop, but I'm mobile too, so I'd really like to find something you can use as a vac attachment (shopvac type.)

    Grass in Trunk Carpet

One of the hardest things to get out are dried blades of grass and other such embedded particles. I was curious if anyone had found a really good vacuum attachment for getting these out? I usually just run the hose attachment over and over until it breaks loose, but I was thinking maybe some...

    "Paying" for Referrals?

Looks like the mods took care of it, which is a good thing (thanks admins!) This is a "just getting rolling" kind of marketing strategy, to give a little more of a push for referring, plus it's a win-win, I think. If I get a few extra clients, the 10% off doesn't hurt me at all.

    "Paying" for Referrals?

This is what I was thinking of, having these made in business card size. Thoughts?

    "Paying" for Referrals?

I will check out the book, thanks. I was just reading about referral card techniques that people use in Salon's, and it talked about the same strategy you're discussing, where the referrer and the refer-ee both benefit.

    "Paying" for Referrals?

I was thinking about that as well. How do you track that, some sort of coupon, or just write it in the "book"?
