Detailed: FX35, My first non-family member detail

My first detail that wasn't related to me. Still not a paid detail, but getting there. Sorry for the bad pic angles. That's pretty much all I had to work with. Process: Wash: PB SS&S using seafoam sponge Clay: Claymagic Blue Polish: Menzerna IP on LC CCS Green pad Sealed: Wolfgang's...

    New Car Paint Sealant HELP!

That's interesting. Maybe you can scan and post the actual "fine print" for others and the mods can "sticky" it. I know I was offered it at my Lexus dealership, simply said no, and we moved on. Interesting to see how other dealerships market this option. If you ask them flat out "is this a 1...

    Something Nasty: Something Nice

Can you see the pics in your photobucket album? Seems like some people were able to see them, but not anymore. Did you change/edit anything?

    Wolfgang: Absolute must haves?

I agree, the DG gives a darker, deeper, glossy look. OPS kinda mats the flakes. Although OPS is a 1-step aio, it will save time when time is of the essence.

    Shining up the tailpipe...

I use Wenol metal cleaner/polish. Funny though, I found this in Williams-Sonoma. Dual purpose, exhaust, sink, and pots/pans.

Wax removal by hand or machine?

I read that using the bonnet is good, but just like using a MF cloth, you need to constantly turn it. You would probably need to flip the bonnet inside-out and use 2 bonnets to remove the wax thoroughly and prevent the buildup of wax on the bonnet. I've used the bonnet and it removes pretty...

    Laptop help

My recommendations would be: - Dell D620 latitude notebook (sorry, I know you said no dell, but they're small, powerful, and cheap, since the D630s are out) - Apple MacBook (small, fast, able to run both Windows and OSX. I'd run the Windows side for your schoolwork, then OSX to surf the web...

    Newbie needs a advice

Are you using a machine (porter cable) or by hand? If you're using a pc, here's a link to a "how-to" using the pc and CCS pads. Learn How to detail It gives a brief description of each step. You'll probably want to skip step 1 and move to step II as your car is new, unless you have some...

    Best WAX ever?

Haven't had the chance (and $$$) to try the Souveran, although I have liquid Souveran and like that too, but that's a different story. But, I did notice too that it wasn't as easy to use. Seemed to "dry" as soon as it hit the paint. Actually used too much in certain areas too and had to use...

    Best WAX ever?

I got a new Best Wax (don't know about EVER), CG Pete's 53. Just posted my RX400h in the Show&Shine section with a layer of Pete's and Love it!

ha ha ha! Thanks for all the supportive replies! I actually should have put the disclaimer and rated it R for graphic scenes and partial nudity instead of the "flab"! I like the Pete's better than Natty's Blue. After reading other threads and experiencing 1st hand, the Natty's actually does...

    Xmt 360

If I remember correctly, in one of my first posts, I asked kind of the same question. I believe the answer was 'either, or'. Either the sealant, or the glaze, but not both. The glaze would give a little glossier finish and would look better topped w/ a wax. I could be wrong...and someone...

    Infiniti FX - Black

Great pics, awesome job! My friend has a white one and I'll probably end up detailing it, but its in much worse shape than yours. One question, with all the curves on the car, was it hard using the orange pad? Seems like alot of curves with a stiff pad.

Need Your opinions on what process.

I had the same thought, Jimmie. Had Natty's Blue on mine and just got Pete's 53 and was anxious to try some. Since I was pressed for time, I just used some P21S cleansing lotion (in your case, would be the Pinnacle lotion) and topped with Pete's 53.

1st time posting pics: Lexus RX400h

I get about 27-28mpg. Might not sound like much if you're comparing it to a compact car, but my brother's older RX300 used to get 19mpg.

1st time posting pics: Lexus RX400h

I actually paid 42k (before the 2k tax credit) for my 06RXh, so they're not as inflated as people portray it. You should start looking now, wait til about Sept/Oct when the new models come in, and get a deal on an 07. As far as reliability, the only servicing that needs to be done is regular...

1st time posting pics: Lexus RX400h

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Nica, yes, it is new and no swirls (knock on wood). Before I started detailing w/ a pc, I had it detailed by a pro. Clay, sealed. I didn't think it was a "professional" job as he went pretty fast with the pc. So, after much reading, I took the plunge...
