As I understand things: 1) Iron-X dissolves iron based pollutants that are embedded in the clearcoat. Iron-X does not dissolve pollutants below the surface of the clearcoat. Is that correct? 2) These iron particles can discolor a white (perhaps very light color) car and so, Iron-X removes them...

Ditto everything said. I use Iron-X, and always before claying.

I'll probably be repeating a lot of what has already been said. I think #3,4,5 are basically the same thing. Polishing the paint (by machine, not so much if you're trying it by hand) should remove scratches, etchings and swirls. It might be a polish combo like Meguiars 105/205 or something...

An observation of mine, much of detailing is more anecdotal than science- and I'm not commenting either way on your process. The real "test" on whether or not sealant can be applied over wax is- time. As I understand sealant, it chemically needs to bond with "paint" and wax prevents that needed...

Depending on where in H-town you live, soon the pollen will be history and the lovely pollution from the refineries in Pasadena will leave a beautiful sheen on your car. (I went to UofH back in the '70's.)
