I'm starting to see the value of wheel and tire cleaners

+1 on diluted OPC. But I use anywhere from 1:3 to 1:1 dilution. Even on tires and wheels that's been neglected, it works wonders.

    Wax breakdown

Is that a horizontal panel? Beading should be tall and round and fairly uniform, even if varying in sizes. I'm hard pressed to find anything round there. It's safe to assume the LSP is on its last legs.

is it wise to wax the car in the winter?

I switch to Optimum Car Wax in the winter. Spray on, wipe off. My garage is unheated and goes down just to the 40s.

    Black Friday Computer Purchase Help

7 years ago, I helped my 17-year-old son build his own computer from parts he researched. Fast forward to early this year, my 2nd son (also now 17) went through the same process, this time he didn't need my help. He built it himself. I say if you have the aptitude and attitude for it, just...

Thanksgiving - what it really means (to me)

My heart and thoughts go out to you, Rob, Bob57 and Jamesboyy. Rob, that must have been tough to write. Indeed, let's all find the bright spots! Thank you for your words and sharing them. Ed

Do you use more ONR with a sponge?

You're using way too much. I start off with 4 gal solution for a mini-van and 3 gal solution for a hatchback (subaru impreza/audi a3), and still have some left over to do all 4 wheels. I use 2bm with a grout sponge. How are you using it?

    Fabric Protection Question

I use 303 Fabric Guard on fabric seats and carpets in my vehicles. More frequently in years past when kids were younger and prone to accidents. I prep by vacuuming and steam cleaning and try to schedule the job when the ambient temp is on the warm side.

Up to 1 oz of Micro-Restore. Less for smaller loads. Works really well with my front-loader HE washer.

    What really grinds your gears

When my planned PVR recordings either get cut off or not recorded because of a live event that pre-empted it or a previous programming. That irks me a little.

I never had dusting with SIP. But I won't use it as a 1-step.

Difference between waterless and rinsless wash?

Did you scrub off the smudges? ONR by itself would not cause scratches. My DD van is proof. Its hood is 99% swirl-free. And I ONR with either MF (GDWM) or grout sponge (2BM). The 1% was caused by my son who placed a candy box on hood.

Took my wheels to the local tire shop

OP, I read bits and pieces of the thread. Sounds like a lot of unwanted stress. Any resolution, by any chance?

So you want to Opti-Coat do yah?

I applaud you for your persistence. 15 years ago, I would too, I'd bring out the technical books and such. These days, I find it better to be more tolerant, and more care-free, especially on a forum. I try not to annoy, and I try not to be easily annoyed. "Try" being the operative term. :)

    Oil filter

An old-school mechanic once told me to change oil every 3K miles religiously (this was 25 years ago) and I could use toilet paper in those dang oil filters. Followed his advice and always used the cheapest no-name oil filters I could find. But this was ages ago when things were built...

Damn you raaaaain!!! Damn you to hell!!!

Not sure what you're asking. Are you concerned the rain ruined the WDGPS you just put on? If so, then yes. It's probably ruined. I live in a rainforest where the only month it doesn't rain is July. Before I put on WDGPS, I first check the weather channel. Seriously!!

    ONR As A Waterless...possible?

Oh yes... my son and I have been victimized more than once by puddles of UWW+ left on the garage floor which is smooth concrete. I wasn't done washing, normally I'd clean up ASAP. Those little UWW+ puddles are slippery as heck, it will startle you, be careful. Can't say the same for ONR @ QD...
