anyone. roof micro pitting after long term care?

man, looking at other cars, I knew the hood roof and trunk were the most prone to failure, so I waxed those the most. guess I didn't wax enough.

anyone. roof micro pitting after long term care?

Yeah, kind of like that, but not as bad. I'd say mine is about 25 percent of that. I need to know if there's a way to save it at this point. I'm afraid to polish too much for fear of burning through the clear coat. My car is approaching 8 years age. I'm surprised you're seeing it so early...

    pad vs polish

What happens when you mix and match polishes with pads.... for instance, using a medium cut orange pad with a finer polish like Ultimate Polish ? Will that result in hazing? I know you can use softer pads with more aggressive compounds to fine tune the cut. But what about the reverse...

anyone. roof micro pitting after long term care?

i didn't think the brand or model were relevant. I'm asking about dark cars in general. Any brand. But i'll add any dark color with a clear coat. Not anything with 1 stage paint.

anyone. roof micro pitting after long term care?

Does anyone have a dark colored car kept outside, regularly waxed, with micropitting on the roof and trunk paint (horizontal surfaces)? Just wondering if I'm the only one, or if I didn't wax enough. The micropitting gives the paint a hazy look.

Gov Brown announces sweeping new water restriction measures

I still won't use waterless. I use less water washing a car than a typical person does taking a shower.

    What did I do Wrong?

collinite 845. gone in 2 weeks

Bingo. Thanks everyone. I didn't know dirt would prevent beading. a few months ago, my car was kinda dirty, it rained, and the rain beaded, so I thought it was always supposed to bead. Today, my car was covered in tree pollen, and I just wanted to rinse it all off without washing, and use...

collinite 845. gone in 2 weeks

If you had to measure wax by the teaspoon, how much 845 wax should be used on the roof of the average family sedan? I washed the roof of my sedan with palmolive. applied 845 on 3/13. Hasn't been washed since 3/13. Now it doesn't bead up. Car is parked outside 24/7. Paint is charcoal color...

    Leaf blower choice needed

I just bought a toro 390cfm electric blower from home depot. But i read the reviews on amazon, and quite a number of people's blowers crap out with a few time's use. wonder why that is. I would like mine to last 10 years but who knows.

    Collinite observations

yeah. I'm not even sure 845 lasts longer than typical cheap meguiars stuff. I know it's better than chemical guys crap though. I'll have to do a half-half test next time. I put the 845 on thin as prescribed. 845 is the easiest wax i've ever applied though. but durability is still up in the...

extra coarse buffing pads for DA polisher

ah well. we'll see how gritty these are. they were only $3 for the pair. my roof paint has tiny dimples that make the paint look cloudy, and my current foam pads don't have enough cut to make them go away

    Collinite observations

i find that 845 doesn't last very long for me in the california outdoors under the sun. within 2 months, there's no wax left. no more beading. and I don't even wash my car that often. weird.

    Using WD40 to remove tar

wd40 works well and easy for me. If I can wash it off my fingers with a little dish soap, I don't see the harm on paint. everyone has wd40 lying around, and I don't have to spend $11 to buy kerosene

clear urethane casting resin on headlights vs others...

You all have good points. I was just throwing an idea out there. Also it would be nice if opti-lens were half the price, and nothing brings price down like competition. Opti-lens is resin based, last I checked. As for releasing from molds easily, that's because they spray some mold release...

clear urethane casting resin on headlights vs others...

I was thinking about those wood furniture that is coated in a thick hard resin coating, and I thought it sounded perfect for headlight yellowing problems. polyurethane (not polyester) casting resin is optically clear UV stable, and a lot cheaper than opti-lens. There's something called...

extra coarse buffing pads for DA polisher

if you use light or lighter pressure with extra coarse buffing pads on a DA, will you get similar results as a medium orange buffing pad with regular pressure, or would the extra coarse pads result in paint marring regardless of pressure ? This is the "extra coarse" pad I'm looking at....

wet sanding your headlights = nasty scratches

i thought the cutting compound would get rid of 2000 grit, so I never bothered to get 3000.
