I've had great results on old trim by cleaning with magic eraser and then dressing with Perl.

I use a plastic scraper wrapped with a microfiber to clean old wax or buildup from it. It works well.

Bare diamond plate? Polishing wheel is the best tool for the job. If you have never used them, youtube has great videos to get you started.
