    Tornador Foam Gun.....is it necessary...?

You guys realize that "foam" is a by-product of the actual cleaners? Foam therefore, while it may look neat and cool, has no cleaning properties in and of itself. I had a hard time grasping this years ago because we have been conditioned to equate foam with cleaning but those heaps of foam are...

Need Your Help Guys and Gals

You don't have "10 coats" of anything on your paint. You can lay some wax down but that's it. Wax will not layer, nor do sealants. Many people will lay down 2 coats but not thinking it layers but for complete coverage. Now as for VW paint....it just sucks. They come to us from the dealer here...

    Leather Seat Issue

Here's the deal if it's a blue jean transfer. It's one dye transferring to another. Although your seats have a clear coat of sorts a dye, like ink for instance, can and will be absorbed by the leather. So to clean you can try Acetone. It's a fairly "safe" solvent and flashes quickly. Goof Off...

what apc are you guys using now?

Obviously none of you have heard of or tried Pro_Tek? Best all around APC I have used for everything interior. It can do exterior chores also but for that I use Optimum. Pro-Tek is not cheap BUT it's highly concentrated. Give it a try, most impressive.:props: Anthony

    Making moves. Starting it up

Well here's my advice, take it or leave it...but at least read it! Im the MAN If you love detailing cars and working with cars as a hobby then you'll most likely grow to hate it as a livelihood. Choose a different career and keep it a hobby. I know the line, "Do what you love, love what you...

Heavy Tar and Road Paint in Wheel Wells

heat guns will work to a degree....as in be watchful what materials you are heating! Just a second too long in one area and it's a goner, a melted mess.

Heavy Tar and Road Paint in Wheel Wells

I am gonna revive this thread here.....I have in our shop a horrible tar removal job on a Toyota truck. If you do this professionally then using stuff in cans, as in aerosol, will cut deep into your profits. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some "mineral spirits" and soak the tar areas. Then...

So you want to Opti-Coat do yah?

It can be sprayed. We prefer to spray it on rather than wiping on. Anthony

So you want to Opti-Coat do yah?

Optimum sends out a small bottle of Prime with each PRO coating. This is a very mild correction polish and paint cleaner. It's job is as a paint "prep" for the coating more so than paint correction. With that said though the Prime can finish out nicely with proper pad selection. So if the paint...

first time working on paint protection film

Don't use IronX on the film. PPF film is not as delicate as many claim BUT it is porous so if you happen to use a solvent to remove something on the film, say tar, with a colored microfiber towel the color from the towel can be transferred to the PPF and stain it. Perhaps the most common...

So you want to Opti-Coat do yah?

Opti-Coat Pro should not be applied for anything under $499.00 That's JUST for the application. That price is not with any paint correction. Paint correction is at an additional cost. That price should not include an "interior" detail either. That should also be extra. Now what does an OCP...

    Frustrated after my last wash...

Umm, does the vehicle being washed have any type of a wax or sealant on it? Ever notice how easy it is to dry a car that have a sealant on it vs. a car that does not? If the car has no sealant on it then towels just push water around the surface. A better and faster option would be to use a...

How long does spray wax extend the life of your base wax?

You can't layer wax. One layer does not lay or rest upon the next instead you remove and replace one with the other. Solvents are used to liquify "wax" and in general wax is just an oil that lays on top of the paint. There is no bonding, no cross linking with the painted surface. Wax is just a...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

Just means that new guidelines will be in place to ensure the end user has more support and protected area. Like I said before, it's a whole system of vehicle protection now. Not just the OCP. I am out for the most part on this discussion now. Off to the shootin rangeIm the MAN

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

I also meant to add......the Pro program is getting a reboot for lack of a better word. Dr. G has been very busy with the broader spectrum of the Opti-Coat system as a whole. It will be much clearer in time to come.

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

I'll gladly answer to the best of my ability. When the Opti-Coat first came out and sold to detailers, it was to be for pros only. Based on a lax definition of "pro". It was to be a territory type of product but it grew beyond that capability quickly and things got out of sorts from what I...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

Umm...you're still off in left field here. First, yes several people in my area alone were using 2.0 and claiming it was the Pro version. In fact people would call Optimum and ask about the warranty because they had the Pro, or what they thought was the Pro version. Second, yes many products...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

You are missing the whole point here. People are or were applying 2.0 and CALLING IT THE PRO VERSION and then charging a PRO PRICE.....yet they were not getting what they paid for. Do you understand that part? What is it about that that people are not grasping? No one is selling Mequiars and...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

Setec, hello and good to chat with ya and I very much appreciate the great questions. My beef is not with someone looking on these forums and getting info and seeking to start a LEGIT business. Rather it's with someone who hires people under the table, doesn't pay taxes, carries no insurance...
