Product Review: XMT Carnuba Finishing Glaze & XMT Pad Conditioner

It absolutely blows my mind that someone will put down serious cash on a car like a Porsche, and then mess-up the paintwork using some crappy old rag from the closet to wash and dry the vehicle. It makes as much sense as paying $30K for a new vehicle and then keeping it on the driveway...

Product Review: XMT Carnuba Finishing Glaze & XMT Pad Conditioner

WOW  Nice job on the Pathfinder, Totoland Mach. Was the XMT Carnuba Finishing Glaze the only (significant) product used during this detailing, or was this the last step?

    Microfiber Towels

It was my understanding that all MF was made up of a combination of Polyester and Polymide that is subsequently split to produce a fiber that can be woven. IMHO it would seem to make sense that if you can find a MF woven with a large loop structure, it would be better suited to remove excessive...

    Microfiber Towels

Killrwheels, you say "You can truly find good and bad in all towels, micros and diapers. Because most use polyester in the makeup. With diapers it can be around the edges." Are you saying that any percentage of polyester in a MF is undesirable? Or is it in the way the polyester is woven into the...

How do you get a Kleenex to dance??

When you run out of Floyd, there's always Genesis, the Who, Supertramp, Queen etc etc. Any Classic Rock is OK with me. :) Of course a good helping of Jimmy Buffett and a couple of Margaritavilles would make any detailing job smooooooooooth.

    Recommendations (Swirls on black paint)

Does the Souveran have a recommended temperature range for application? I've been using the P21S for several years with great results. I purchased my first Souveran about 3 weeks ago and have just started using it. Maybe it is because it's still been cold here in the North East but it just...

    Flitz Power Ball

I use the original orange polishing ball and flitz paste on the diamond plate toolboxes of my work truck with great results. Just be careful to try and make sure you are rotating away from the sharp edges rather than onto them. (Having said that, Flitz's instructions tell you to use only in a...

Free 303 Cleaner w/ Kit Purchase

Don't have a convertible, but would the vinyl kit work OK on a truck with a soft tonneaux cover over the bed? Must be similar kind of vinyl?

WG, Klasse Twins or other -- an informal poll

I've never tried the WG, but as a hobbyist with a wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs, etc. etc. etc. I like the ease of use and durability of the Klasse Twins. Sure, I would like to be out there detailing with different products every weekend, but life is life.

    Recommendations (Swirls on black paint)

Your list I think you're on the right lines with your list. Being a black-on-black truck you might want to upgrade to Souveran Carnuba wax instead of the P21S (personally I like the P21S - but it has a higher beeswax content for ease of application) the Souveran produces better results on...

    Removing hardened tree sap

emaxxman Buy yourself a bottle of P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion and give it a try. IMHO this is one of the best pre-wax cleaners on the market! If your 98 Accord has any signs of acid-rain spots or road tar deposits you'll find yourself going over the whole car with this stuff.

    Curing Time

I totally agree with Neothin, there's nothing like carnuba to put a great shine on your paint. My personal favorite is P21S Concours Carnauba Wax (available from Autogeek). I don't know what it is about this wax - maybe it's the combination of carnuba plus beeswax, but it's SO EASY to apply...

    Dressing Wheel Wells

My trucks wheelwells are lined with some kind of black vinyl or rubber sheet material, and I've had good results using Mother's Back to Black applied with a foam pad applicator (no polishing off). The only problem is that it's a real drag getting in there. I for one would love a spray...

    Detailing Disaster.

How right you are! Klasse AIO is a great product, but just as in your case my bottle only fell about three feet but shattered on impact. A total loss of an expensive product. The bottle top of the Pinnacle ASR broke apart and is useless, so I called Autogeek to ask if they had any spare bottle...

    Detailing Disaster.

Hey DS Detailer you are not alone! Just last week I knocked two products off my garage shelves, one was a bottle of Klasse AIO, the other was Pinnacle's ASR. Both bottles broke open on landing, probably due to the cold weather we were having here in Delaware last week. The Pinnacle ASR's bottle...
