You know you're an Autogeek when...

We all know that Autogeeks are a very different breed than your average person. This thread is for everyone to share all the things that you've done that only an Autogeek would do! Car related or otherwise. Feel free to include any related backstories, photos, or other information you feel is...

    Another use for ONR

The only washer fluid I'll use is the orange Rain-x stuff. 3 dollars and change a gallon, doesn't freeze til 25 below, and has ice melting stuff in it. No more windshield scraping! I can't imagine ONR would make a great windshield washing fluid, and as cheap as washing fluid is, I can't imagine...

What in the Wild Wild World of sports!

Comet washes used to be used as a cheap way to remove oxidization from single stage paint, especially on fleet vehicles. Sure, it leaves it kinda hazy, but it was preferable to the completely flat, dull look of severely oxidized paint we all know so well. Did I mention it was cheap? It's clear...

    DA polisher ?

I've got one, picked it up one day when my PC crapped out. It worked so well I haven't felt the need to replace it. It's got more power than my PC had. It's been going strong for 6 months through regular(2-3x a week) use. For a hobbyist and "on the side" detailers, I'd recommend it. Spend the...

1971 Dodge Coronet Original Paint Extreme Makeover with Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze

I have indeed read both of those articles(and most of your other ones in fact, haha). My confusion came from the fact that in the #7 article, you touted it as a way to save the paint vs "caveman rubbing compounds," which to me speaks more of a product like M105 or Ultimate Compound than an AIO...

1971 Dodge Coronet Original Paint Extreme Makeover with Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze

Mike, what is the advantage of this method over using a cleaner/wax or AIO product via DA? That is the method I personally use and have seen others here use with great success, and it certainly seems like a lot less work that applying #7 by hand several times

Yes, another giveaway. Next up, Mothers.

Favorite Mother's product: Mag and Aluminum polish. Haven't found a similar product that outperforms it, and definitely nothing else OTC! Favorite car/racing movie: Talladega Nights. I'm not sure I've seen a Will Ferrell movie that I haven't liked, haha!

Need some boat detailing process advises!

For any kind of gelcoat on boats: skip the DA and head straight for a rotary+wool. Mike Philips has a great video on detailing boats, its like an hour long. He goes over the process and products he uses on just about every surface on that thing. I'll see if I can't find it for you EDIT: Here...

Mobile Guys... Is it okay to use customers water and electricity?

I use client's electricity, since I don't have a generator. I usually don't use their water, since I primarily do ONR washes nowadays. I've never had a client complain or even look at me funny when I inform them that electricity is a requirement for many of my services. I do fill my 2 5 gallon...

    Incredible coating!

My first thought was that it'd be great to coat the inside of your wash mitts with this. Would make winter washing way better

Do you believe a vehicle can be too dirty for a waterless / rinse less / quick detail wash etc

Since I was introduced to ONR, I hardly ever break out the hose any more. About the only time I'll go for the 2BM is when one of my customers has something caked on mud or something. I've never had a problem with slush or salt, it just doesn't "cake" like mud does.

    Duragloss Deluxe Detail Kit Giveaway!

I've never had the chance to try any of the Duragloss products, but I've really been wanting to try out 501! As many AIOs as I do in my business, I'm always on the lookout for the best product available. Of course, I'll never pass up ANY free product :xyxthumbs:

    Metro Giveaway

I'd absolutely love to do a review on any of these products! If I can find a replacement for my bulky shopvac, I'd be one happy geek!

    Guess there's no avoiding this?

Mike Philips wrote a great article about paint, LSPs, and static electricity. It basically explains WHY dust is inevitable on our cars. It also explains why Quick Detailers are such a great tool: they not only allow us to safely wipe light dust, amudges, etc from our paint, but also temporarily...

Mike Phillips VIF or Vehicle Inspection Form

Hey Mike, wanted to let you know that on the first page, you've listed "Pant Chip" instead of "Paint Chip." Oh, and I'd like a copy! Thanks a ton! [email protected]

Your most used or favorite product

ONR is definitely my #1. Extremely convenient, works great, and incredibly economical. A gallon is $40, and it'll wash 128 cars, or make 64 32 oz spray bottles of QD, or provide enough clay lube to last you a life time. Can't beat it

Who's using apc as wheel cleaners?

I use Purple Power for the dirty jobs like wheels, exhaust tips, engine, etc. Hasn't let me down yet! I just eyeball the ratio in a cheapo unmarked spray bottle, somewhere around 5:1.
