I was able to do two coats on a two door Porsche with the 10cc tube and very little left. You should be able to get enough coverage from the 10cc and at least do a second coat on the horizontal panels.
I'm not a professional detailer but as someone who knows a lot of people that don't know the difference between a quality detail and the $20 hand wash offered in our business parking lot, here's the problem with what you did.
You did nothing to educate him on why you might be worth the cost...
Is this marring typically caused by paint that is "soft"?
Conversely, on hard paint, could it also be caused by a more aggressive polish (used prior to the fine polish) not finishing down properly? Then the fine polish cannot remove the marks because the paint is too hard.
Essence does not replace Reflect. They are simply different products. There is little reason to use both. Essence is similar to Reflect on the abrasive scale but it has fillers too.
What LSP will you be using after? Your decision comes down to whether you want to fill defects and whether...
I don't think he's talking about interfering even after an IPA wipe down. My reading was that he was talking about applying a coating right after polishing with an oily product.
Some people do two wipedowns just to make sure.
I think some of the confusion also is the standard the guys are Optimum are holding it to. If they say it's not compatible, that doesn't necessarily mean it will fail right away. The latest version of Gloss Coat is claimed to last up to 3 years. If Gloss Coat only lasts a year over Essence...
Thanks! I think you may be right, I converted from microns wrong. I am seeing new paint on a Porsche be about 6 mils total thickness. However, the clear coat is only about 1.3 mils in total.
Great work, that is some pretty thin paint. Do you know how much paint is removed by a polishing like this one? Say if the reading was 6.7 before, would it also be 6.7 after?
I thought people were using MF pads with Essence because the MF pad provides more cut. You can get away with using a MF pad with Essence because it finishes well and has durable fillers that can potentially hide any micro-marring.
Since you don't need a lot of correction and because Car Pro...
I don't understand the chemistry behind how Essence (or the primer products used in other coating systems like Modesta) can leave behind a layer of protection that on its own only lasts 6-12 months, yet allows the subsequently applied coating to last several years as it would had the coating...
1) How would you describe the cut level of Essence compared to say P085RD / SF4500? It sounds like Essence has Reflect abrasives in it and therefore has a bit more cut than these Menzera products.
2) For a brand new car that does not need much of any defect correction, would you recommend this...
^ When you say the first version of Gloss Coat had sealant like durability, was the old version good for at least a year?
They are claiming 3 years on the new version, so if I didn't need to reapply for 2 years, I would find that acceptable.
I was wondering why AutoGeek has Gloss Coat on sale. Suppose it's too early to ask if anyone has actually used the new version. Wondering if I ought to use the tube I have on my weekend car and buy a tube of the new version for my DD.
