Wheel Sealants vs. Wheel Protectant Spray

The big killers are the semi-metallic/ferro carbon pads such as carbotec XP10's, Axxis ULT's, Stoptech Street Performance, Hawk HP+ etc. Normal organic OEM pads, or even ceramic pads are less likely to be as corrosive and stain wheels. For the average person, a normal sealant such as KHGSG or...

Wheel Sealants vs. Wheel Protectant Spray

Many forms of brake dust are very corrosive and will stain wheels even with most OTS waxes/sealants. Many wheel sealants have special chemicals in them with the sole purpose of resisting brake dust. Here's an example of what happened to my current wheels when they were protected by a generic...

    Meguiars Soft Buff 2.0 Pads

Can anyone comment on the durability of these pads compared to the CCS pads? I am very discouraged after using my CCS blue and red pads to apply an AIO to 2 cars ('99 mazda 626 '95 integra) and having the surface of them already start falling apart. How well do the finishing pads hold up?

    What applicator is best?

As AIO is essentially a cleaner sealant, I would recommend using a microfiber applicator like you currently are to take advantage of these cleaning properties. What applicator are you using? The autogeek ones or the generic round ones from autozone etc.? I've actually come to really like...

How to remove baked on / caked in brake dust?

I fourth the wheel brightener. I've had to fight horrid brake dust on my car...yay pbr ult's that really finds its way into my white wheels rather quickly. WB was able to knock it out very quick with a little scrubbing.

Wheel Sealants vs. Wheel Protectant Spray

I've used the AA wheel protectant on my personal vehicle. My wheels are a gloss white paint/clearcoat and pads are a semi-metallic track pad which leaves a ton of very dark dust. Personally I felt it was overrated as a product. There really isn't a lot of overspray with the aerosol can, and I...

Tip for getting product out of 32 oz bottles

I picked up the autogeek squeeze bottles when they were on BOGO a while ago. Works great for my 105/205 as well as the klasse twins. They let me keep just enough on hand to tackle any job i've had so far.

    The Biggest Sealant Test ever!

Neat to see the Klasse Twins made it! Really I have a feeling when you get into the upper echelon of sealants there isn't much difference between them other than cost and personal preference! He said it is a horse hauler...from knowing/raising horses all my life, i know for a fact that horse...

Where do you detail if you live in an apartment?

At school it varies...pretty much wherever I can. If I'm just throwing a quick coat of wax on I can do it in a single space with a car on each side in a parking lot. If possible I look for a spot with the surrounding couple vacant. Drive around to even stores/malls with large lots and work...

    Review: Meguiar's Wheel Brightener

I use this car as a combination track/daily driver. There's no way I would ever run ceramic pads on a track compared to the semi-mets. The difference is amazing between the two. I'm not following...I didn't clean the way back deep portion of the rims, so yeah there's brake dust...

    Review: Meguiar's Wheel Brightener

Meguiars Wheel Brightener Description: I have the unfortunate fate of having white painted wheels with the combination of semi-metallic pads which is enough to drive a sane person mad with brake dust. I've struggled for a while to find a good wheel cleaner that would remove not only the...

Why do these spots keep coming back?

That is definitely etched. Try compounding etc. again, but after you're done, wipe with IPA to get any oils out which would cover it up.

    glass cleaners and towels

I actually mix up my own which I like a lot...I do a 50/50 mix of 91% IPA and water in a 32oz bottle and add in 1 capful of ONR. Second to that I like stoners...the aerosol can is about the best IMO. Towels it definitely goes to the waffle weave!

    Taping problems

Try using wax and grease remover to wipe whatever down with before you apply the tape. They sell it at many autoparts stores in the painting section.

The blue painters tape or the purple?

Lord don't get me started on that stuff. I remember taping up my car to paint and my parents went into town to grab some tape since i was running low...they came back with that vs the good green stuff. Comes off easy, but that's because it doesn't stick.

    Cleaning/Polishing Stainless Steel

Megs 80 would be great. To clean one up I would first spray it and the inside with simple green etc. and use an old bottle brush to clean any soot out of it. Then follow up by polishing by hand since its a tiny area. Meg's 80 would be great. If you need something more aggressive, you may try...

    Cleaning/Polishing Stainless Steel

Yeah, the black is a coating...atleast my muffler. I'd treat it like an oxidized single stage paint and compound it, but make sure to put a coat of a sealant on it such has klasse HGSG. The actual tips don't get very hot hence why you can coat them.

    Cleaning/Polishing Stainless Steel

Here's a little writeup from a friend on a different site. It takes a ton of work, but the results speak for themselves. The big thing to note is that stainless is the actual metal...its not a coating. You can always polish it just like you can aluminum etc.

The blue painters tape or the purple?

I like the 3m green tape over the blue or purple. The big thing is just how much better it sticks to paint and trim than the blue does which is great for laying it out. Blue is good if you have something that is very clean and easy to stick to, but on an average car you're hard pressed to get...
