What applicator is best?

I am using klass AIO and have been using the sponge type micro fiber covered applicators. They are not so good. They seem to absorb more wax then goes on the car.

What is a good hand held applicator for putting on wax?

Next question>>>>

When putting on a second coat of wax like K SG the next day, do I need to rinse off the car first to get off any dust?
what is the best procedure for doing a second coat of wax?


I can't do a second wax coat the same morning or night as I have a big vehicle (Van) and wash and dry and wax KAIO takes me a few hours and would take too long and would be too exhausting for me so I have to do it the next day or a few days later.
 
As AIO is essentially a cleaner sealant, I would recommend using a microfiber applicator like you currently are to take advantage of these cleaning properties.

What applicator are you using? The autogeek ones or the generic round ones from autozone etc.? I've actually come to really like the rectangular ones from autogeek as they seem to absorb less than other applicators.

If you're looking to speed up the application process, I love to apply AIO via a rotary with a blue finessing pad. Really cuts down on the time required.

If doing anything with the paint later, I recommend instead of a rinse to use a simple quick detailer wipedown. I use ONR mixed up to their QD specs.

For applying the HGSG, I recommend the yellow foam applicators from autogeek. They don't absorb an overly large amount, and are very slick to use.
 
I have used foam applicators with no issue, use what you find is best for a given product. I like MF applicators only with the newer Walk-Away type sealants.

As for application of the sealant after AIO, always make sure to have the best finish. A quick light wash might be a good option especially if you have dust accumulated or needed to drive van between applications.

Would it be a bad idea to use a white pad to make better use of the cleaning properties?
 
I've applied Klasse also with the Blue finesse pad my arms have loved me since, Klasse recommends a Black pad. The white pad might not do anything since the AIO is not that abrasive, you might just end up removing the previous coat of AIO you applied the night before..
That's just my guess.
 
Yeah I am washing waxing in the early morning or late evening at a do it yourself car wash place that has the hand held nozzle/hose. They have pressure wash and about 10 wash and rinse settings. Foam, no spot rinse, high pressure, also hand held air dryers that you can blast your car dry with. It is a nice new place so I like going there since I am in a condo complex with no access to a water and hose.

I wash and wax there but it takes a long time so I am burnt after 3+hours and have to drive home. I am in Reno NV so it is a bit dusty and windy and there is pollen. I guess in the future I will Do the KAIO and then the next day or two just do a quick rinse and dry and put on the KSG. That should be enough to get off any dust. Seems like a good idea since dust and dirt build up immediately on the vehicle. That should work best.

I have been looking for some of the plastic foam sponge applicators locally but can't find them at walmart. target summit racing, autozone, kragen etc. So I bought a few of those blue microfiber foam applicator pads. I think they are ok enough for the KAIO but I think the plastic foam ones will be better for the KSG. I don't want to order online and pay double for shipping costs so I am looking for them locally at the moment.

Thanks for your link and product suggestion. That's what I am looking for. A product that is good for putting on KAIO and KSG by hand.

Yeah I am hip to that. I bought like $200+ stuff from Autogeek for the first time and got free shipping. KAIO, KSG, FK1000, Groits wheelcleaner, Poorboys wheel sealant, WWMF towels, tire brushes, wheel brushes, wool polishing balls etc a ton of stuff....BUT I already had the blue mf applicators and didn't think I needed the plastic sponge ones so I didn't order them. Sooooooooo I don't need anything else but the sponge applicators right now. That is why I am trying to find them at an auto parts store or wally world. So I don't have to get $10 worth of applicators and pay $10 for shipping. They have them at stores I have seen them before. But for whatever reason I can't find them right now.

For Klasse I usually use a micro pad, but I also really like those dense red Autogeek foam pads. But last time I went to buy some they were no longer there for some reason. I wonder what happened?

I definitely don't like the Autozone ones though.

I also like the solid foam applicator over the standard disc ones that are really two layers of foam welded around the perimeter. They are like like a foam polishing pad without the velcro.
