    Meg 205 then what question

Bobby, if you wanna get away from the harsh chemicals you might wanna try my modified car wash. I created this process after discussion w/ Avi @ CarPro on how to prep for ReLoad. He felt that the polymers in NR's would interfere (since then Richy says no) so I used Meg's Gold Glass at 1 oz to...

    Detailing With Dry Ice!??

Quite agree Mike. I recall when this process first hit industry some years ago. I thought it was so freakin cool (pun intended). I would love to get one of these machines for detailing, blasting scaled paint, cleaning the siding, etc. But boy are they EXPEN$$$$IVE. And then there's the cost...

    Detailing With Dry Ice!??

Pretty neat. Dry ice blasting has become fairly common in industrial and home remediation applications. The equip is expensive so I'd expect this to be limited to higher end detailers. You can google "dry ice blasting" to find out how it works.

What pads do I purchase for my Porter Cable?

Yes, that makes a big difference. You need to contact whomever did your car and ask how much clear they shot and how much they buffed off. Tell them that you're gonna polsih out some swirls with a DA and ask if they feel confident about the thickness of the clear. If some min wage buffer...

    PC7424XP - Waxing

Agree Mike. But ya gotta admit the wax does spread faster and more evenly if you keep the pad rotating. Which pad are you using for your "wax pad"? I'm using the blue 5.5" LC flat pads. Is there a better choice in your opinion? I will try bumping the speed like you do. It is a bit tedious...

    Zaino Brothers

You can skip the wash after claying. The surface will be very clean by then and the polishing will take care of any residue from the clay. Only other tip I can give is to do a test section first. Make sure the pad and polish combo you've chosen is actually gonna do the job. Like Setec said...

    PC7424XP - Waxing

Not sure why you're having a problem. I apply wax with a blue pad, speed 3 - 4 and no pressure - just the weight of the machine. You do have to pay a bit of attention to keeping the pad level to the surface at that speed, but I have no probs keeping the pad spinning.

What pads do I purchase for my Porter Cable?

Umm, hate to tell you this but you're gonna need a finish polish like Wolfgang Finishing Glaze. The TSR will not finish fine enough and the Paintwork Polish Enhancer is a cleaner rather than a final polish. As far as pads, I'd suggest the 5.5" Lake Country flat pads - one each yellow...

    New house - Hard water

If you have a dehumidifier you can simply save the water and use it for washing - it's functionally equivalent to distilled. I have very hard water and I won't use it for anything but blasting off winter crud. I wash using an NR and the "distilled" water from my dehumidifier. The best part is...

Need help - trying to remove swirls on jet balck BMW - want to order rest of products today...

Welcome to the vagaries of polishing. It took me quite awhile to figure out the paint on my wife's black Lexus - pads, polishes, speeds. It's a good bit different from my RAV4 and both are Toyotas, so go figure. I was also getting leftover defects. I found I could use WG TSR on an orange pad...

    Help: Collinite 845

I've used both a red and a blue LC pad. Either is fine. I use 6 - 8 drops to prime and 4 - 5 drops per panel thereafter. I've left 845 hazed for up to 45 min with no prob - I typically do around the door handles & rockers by hand and then come back and do the panels. No trouble getting it off...

Got my menzerna PC kit, have some questions about the pads

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but if you're new to polishers aren't you also new to wet sanding? Be aware that you can seriously screw-up a finish if you don't know what you're doing.

What to use on a new truck

:iagree: Most of the products offered by AG are top notch. I have yet to be dissappointed in anything I've gotten here. Bobby has steered you correctly for a solid, durable combo. Collinite 845 over a sealant is almost unbelieveable. You'll feel the need to rewax before that finish stops...

Thinking of starting a part-time detail busniness

I'll ditto what others have said. While the Megs consumer line is quite good (heck I still use Ultimate Compound by hand to get fingernail scratches around door handles), the pro formulas are much faster and do a far nicer job. Use up your consumer line in practice and then go to the pro...

    Pad Washing Tips

+1 on the Megs APC+. Just dilute like 8:1, let them soak overnight and rinse. It will even remove UTTG and wheel glaze from your applicator pads.

    Starter Pads/Polishes

:iagree: I'm with silverfox on this one. I've seen so many posts with OUTSTANDING pics from respected guys that I can't wait to try the Megs MF System. The only reason I haven't done it yet is that I bought several flat pads and a bp just before this system came out. But once they're almost...

Need Advice: First Details, car stays outdoors

Some people prefer the flat pads, other prefer CCS or HT. I use the flat pads based on the recommend of several guys here. IMHO, techique is far more important than the type of pad. Just make sure you get the 5.5 inch pads if you're getting a PCXP or Meguiar's DA. Vast experience shows that...

Need Advice: First Details, car stays outdoors

Outside is tough on a car's finish. Sealants tend to offer more protection than a wax, while waxes tend to offer a deeper glow. You can always top a sealant with a wax. Collinite 845 is one of the most durable waxes you'll find. Put that over top of Menz Powerlock and you'll have the most...
