    what would you do ?

It depends upon which client I'm speaking with. Not all customers are dumb about things like this and you'd be surprised just how many know the difference between a scuff and a scratch Chill out. Of course any pro is going to quote AFTER seeing the project.

    Dealing with Last-minute Cancellations

I also will give the customer a call the evening before the scheduled appointment. I also will call or text the customer to let them know I am on my way to them. If I don't hear anything back then it doesn't matter. Once I get to the appointment I set up and start work. I haven't had to...

Help me help a friend deal with his scratches

First things first ............ TAKE HER DRIVER LICENSE AWAY FROM HER. Ok, pics showing absence of paint are simple. Touch up. The pics showing the scuffs aren't so bad. Use Mr. Clean eraser and scrub them off. They WILL come off, but you're going to have to do some type of polishing by...

    what would you do ?

Option 1 is going to be your best bet. As you stated "that a guy that did it a few years back really burned through the clear coat"; there isn't any real need for pics. I think most of us have seen this type of damage before. You don't have any other options available other than to maybe help...

    First time with the griots!!

Sounds like the OP would be located in the SW which make my point valid. Sandy wouldn't put him in many other states if any.

    My cuz's new toy

Yes, it has everything to do with heat. The engine heat and if in the sun ........... the 3M would likely create a bond with the cover that would cause more problems than anyone would want.. Remember, any protective film is still meant to be removed if need be. Placing the 3M over the cover...

    First time with the griots!!

If the paint is smooth to the touch and your hands glide across the paint without any friction ........ THEN you don't need to clay AGAIN. The majority of vehicles will only need to be clayed twice per year. Glad you're up with the DA! I'm sure the girlfriend it glad you want to use it on her...

How to protect my car from extreme conditions ?

I wouldn't use a cover if it's really that windy and sandy. That cover is going to get full of sand etc and then you're going to have to constantly clean it before covering your car. If you don't then you'll be scratching your car every time you remove or place it on the car.

Wind and sand, extreme condition - How to protect the paint/clearcoat ?

Really the best thing would be to use a paint coating. That or leave your ride in the garage .......

    Straight Lacquer

The thing about lacquer is that it should really be wet sanded. When lacquer is applied as a "new" paint job; it needs to be wet sanded between coats. If you're able to wet sand then that's what I would suggest. Do you have any pics? Does the color look like this?

    If I remove vinyl lettering...

it would drive me nuts knowing that was there. Wet sand those areas and polish the entire vehicle out. It'll look like you have a new paint job.
