It's covered in 3M ... if you see this Evan, he's looking for someone to cover the panel over the engine
 
The panel over the engine bay. For some reason that was the only thing not covered. Would that have something to do with heat? Anyway I'll pass along your info to him

Yes, it has everything to do with heat. The engine heat and if in the sun ........... the 3M would likely create a bond with the cover that would cause more problems than anyone would want..

Remember, any protective film is still meant to be removed if need be. Placing the 3M over the cover would likely make this impossible over time.
 
It's very rare that any engine bay glass is ever covered. There woul be no benefit that can be offered by covering the glass. PPF is made to protect the paint and while there is film that is made for the windshields imo there would be no benefit for that either.
