Exterior correction on my own 98' VW GTI (Pic Heavy)

Wow, great car and fantastic results. Your last steps really added depth and gloss to the paint. I think I will be adding some Blackfire and Souverän to my next order as it seems to be a deadly combo on black. :xyxthumbs:

    A legitimate question!

I don't see any reason at all for anyone to call someone else out on the tools they use. For me, the right tool for the right job... If i need a pressure washer, ill use it. If a DA can polish paint to my satisfaction, I park the rotary. To each their own, simple as that. CieraSL - That is...

    A legitimate question!

I am simply a weekend enthusiast, and I couldn't do without my pressure washer. I live in a newer part of the city where homes are still being built and needless to say that when it rains, things get pretty muddy. I get as much off the paint as possible before I touch it with anything else. If...

    OEM Decals

Assuming you mean decals like Z71 on Chevy trucks for example... I just mask them off and polish up to them. After which I peel the tape off ever so carefully. Never had an issue.

    Optimum compound to 85RD

Just a quick question. Would jumping from Optimum Compound (orange pad) to Menz85RD (white pad) be too much of a jump? I though about using my rotary with the OC, and then switching to the PC for the 85RD. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Polishing process

Looking back at my original post, I guess I should mention I wanted to use Optimum Polish with a white pad, followed by 85RD with the blue pad.

    Polishing process

Yes. In fact I learned on a rotary and that's all I have ever used ... the PC is brand new to me. I was thinking since I was only going to clay the horizontal surfaces, an IPA wipe would be needed for the rest of the car. In any event, I will do the wipe after polishing is complete. Any...

    Polishing process

Well for starters I wish I could provide you guys with pictures of my car, but it was overcast today, and tomorrow will be much of the same. Overall the black paint is in great shape, a few swirls here and there. I will of course be doing a test spot, but given the condition of the paint, I am...

    Wolfgang pads

So I bought these pads for my rotary a couple of years ago from AG and I am not sure if they stopped carrying them or if the name changed, but I forget the order of aggression. I thought based on the Lake Country pads now offered by AG the order would be yellow, orange, green, white, black and...

    Spring paint work

Hey, I am about to pull my car out of storage and I made the decision at the end of last summer to clay the entire car this spring. I bought Pinnacle's clay kit and I also thought I would try Klasse's AIO to follow the clay job. I have never used Klasse before, I have always used Optimum...

    Wet sanding videos

Hey, A while ago I watched a series of videos on wet sanding and for the life of me I can not seem to find them on here. I believe there were five videos in total, and guy was working in the front bumper of a Porsche. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it...

    Polishing fibreglass

Killerwheels thanks for the reply. Lots of good information and advice there as I did not realize the vette has such a reputation for a hard clear coat. What speed do you work at with the SSR 2.5 on vette and how quickly does the paint heat up? I will for sure take your advice clay the car...

    Polishing fibreglass

Good day all, I have been asked to polish an 04 vette, as we all know that car is all fiberglass and well my experience with that is somewhat low. I will be using my Makita rotary with the full a line of poor boys polishes, optimum polishes/compounds and of course all the pads from Lake...

How can I find local classes to take to learn how to detail (rotary, pc?)

Well I am not new to detailing by any means, I detailed at the BMW Gallery for 3+ years up until recently (graduated from sait and found work). I make anything look near mint and I know how to use the rotary but I never took any classes.. more on the job training from a experienced detailer and...
