This would be a perfect thing to try out on my freshly painted Accord that still hasn't been polished. I'd love to test it side by side with M105. I'd write the hell out of that review too!
No problem man. I just want to see you happy with the results. There's nothing worse than spending all kinds of time on a project only to have the results disappoint you.
Here's a thread I found for you that talks exactly about what you're trying to do.
Re-clear carbon fiber hood? - beyond.ca car forums community for automotive enthusiasts
I wish you luck. I definitely want to see the pics a week after you wax it :)
If you polish it out before spraying the new clear will flake right off. I'm telling you 3000 is way too fine as is. Paint needs a rough surface to adhere to. The layer of paint will fill in all the rough surface and become some what level on the new surface.
Please if you don't believe...
I've read a lot of forum posts about repainting cars as I just had it done to my Accord. The body guys recommend going to between 400 and 600 grit to get proper adhesion. I was the one to actually wet sand my car and I did it with 600. I'm not sure if it's the same with Carbon Fibre but that...
Go have a look at the description for the pad washer. It's the little round bubbled disc that sits on top of the grit guard.... To help dry the pad and stuff.
It seems like there's a few things that AG doesn't sell seperate. I think it'd be smart to offer the screw on wash bucket lids seperate for people that have the bucket but want to add to it. And the little grit guard extension is another one.
There were a couple others but they've slipped...
I'm pretty sure it has more to do with Turtle Wax not wanting to put the effort in to marketing it. From what I read it was hard to find in the states fo a while there too....
I recently tried Stoners Trim (I forget the actual name. It's Trim Shine I think) and it worked great! Just sprayed it on a cleaned engine let it sit for 10 mins or so and buffed off the puddles and excess. It still looks great after a solid week of rain storms and it's cheap too.
If someone else can find another suitable tent.... over 10x10 that's portable and easy to put up and take down, and isn't over $500 dollars, I'd love to check it out. As far as my searching has gone this is the best I've found.
The tent I posted is a one man job. If I remember correctly it only took him 15 mins on the second go at it. There's a review about it on Autopia.org Head over there and do a search. It's quite a detailed review.
