Honda Fit right off the dealer but full of swirls and watermarks

Unbelievable that dealers care so little about the delivered condition of a vehicle. I have fixed a lot of brand new, fresh off the truck vehicles for dealers.

Keeping trash out of microfiber from washer & dryer?

I've battled this myself - and I have no reason for these wood splinters, or whatever debri to be in my microfibers. It's obviously coming from my machines - somehow they are getting into my washing machine or dryer. So what I do now is - quick rinse the washing machine with nothing in it &...

    Which color pad to use.

I want to mention that while there are pads specified for each step of a compounding/polishing job - each cars paint reacts different to any given combination of pads/compounds/polishes. You should have an assortment of these pads from compounding pads, to polishing, to finishing pads. You can...

    Ceramic coating for my customers?

Hey everyone, I am looking to dive into the ceramic coating side of detailing. I have been in touch with a few companies that don't offer any products to the general public, only certified installers. While their pricing is friendly, they often protect the market and I have to charge a...

A huge mess. Buffer in the wrong hands.

Car was a total repaint. Could see tape lines & build up around doors and edge of panels. Believe it or not, the hood had the deepest damage - the rest of the car cleaned up with M205 on a hex logic white pad, generally after 1 or two complete passes.

Few more photos from this nightmare car. The reflection shot is the hood!

A huge mess. Buffer in the wrong hands.

Nailed it! The dealership actually sent this car to me prior to retailing it.

A huge mess. Buffer in the wrong hands.

I have a library of photos from cars that are run through my shop. Thought I'd share a major repair from last winter. It was a dealer car that their detailer attempted to fix. Looks like a wool pad and rotary buffer in the hands of a donkey to me. Fortunately I was able to save it with M105.

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

Unfortunately the vast majority of my work is major correction like this. Don't get me wrong, I prefer to have work like this so I can correct these cars to my standards. Any time a customer requests a 'shine' when the car looks this bad, I cringe that my name is on it...but...money is money...

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

$600 was my price not including materials. I used 12 Hex Logic pads and a full 32oz bottle of compound. Didn't use much finishing polish, she finished out unbelievable with minimal effort, I have never run into that before. I was so shocked I chem stripped it just to verify. Every inch of this...

Noise level comparison between Harbor Freight DA and other DAs

Quietest DA I've come across is a Shurhold. Felt a tad underpowered (unsure, didn't do any side by side comparisons), but it operates extremely smooth and it's sound is not obnoxious, it's a soft noise.

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

I should have taken some photos of the rear quarters. Awful. The vehicle was basically Gray under decent lighting, nevermind in the sun.

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

Forgot to mention, the finished photos have NO glaze/wax. I didn't do that until the morning before delivery!!

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

Did a few bad areas with my DeWalt Rotary & the rest with my PC. About 13 hours total! I wish I got a few better inspection photos, I finished this vehicle to perfection. It went extremely, extremely smooth! I've never had a black vehicle finish so easily.

2 - Day Cadillac Escalade ESV Buff, Touch up & an odd discovery

Had a Cadillac Escalade ESV in the shop for a full buff. It was in really rough shape but I was able to save her. I had some touch-up to do on the front bumper and a few spots on the lower half of the doors. On my 2nd night of working, it was near 2am and I was getting too tired to focus on a...

    raw aluminum wheels, questions

No responses, but I've done plenty of research and the techniques used for big rigs seems simple. Angle grinder or rotary with aluminum polishing wheels with various grade bars seems to be the best mirror shine with efficiency.

    raw aluminum wheels, questions

I have an entire fleet of Freightliner rigs to polish wheels to a mirror finish. I've polished my own aluminum wheels, but it including stripping the clear, etc. I've never had my hands on raw aluminum from the start. A "professional" already "polished" the wheels on the fleet and was promptly...
