Saving a Hyundai Getz from a Rotary Polisher Experiment

From afar, this car initially looked like a computer LED monitor screen--all matte, no glossy area left. The owner said that they rented a buffing machine and worked the whole car with it without having any idea of how it'd turn out. And of course, they used a rubbing compound found on most paint shops.

I didn't have much time to take before photos. I just hope you'll get an idea based from the two 50/50 shots that I took from the door panel and from the hood. FYI, the entire car is covered with that volume of swirls. I'm not sure if this car has a hard paint but I was really chasing after the swirls as per the client's clear demand. I wasn't able to take off everything because I'm afraid I might take all the clear coats off but I'm pretty sure I got 90% off.

















 
Beautiful work there.
In this site I usually see some sports car, classic , American Muscle getting worked on.
Its quite refreshing to see some budget cars getting the same treatment.

What products did you use while polishing and LSP.

I was actually hesitant to share this because of that. I know it won't get much attention. But the thing is that sports car and the likes are rare here in our place. Mostly, you can only see average cars plying around. I shared this because, so far, this is the work that I'm most fulfilled with because of the amount of correction that I made.

By the way, I used Meg's MF cutting disc with M105 on most part and then orange pad with M205... LSP used was Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant.

Stunning work! Now tell the owner you will put his rotary on Ebay and he can never try that again!

And I'm glad you didn't hesitate to share that skill with us. Those vehicles are maybe 80% of the work the membership does here. Sure, we are excited to see the sports cars, exotics etc. but the bread and butter work comes from the everyday vehicles. Thanks for letting us see it.
 
It looks like the other guy polished it out with a floor buffer! Nice work. I can count on like 2 fingers the "cool" cars I have worked on. Otherwise daily drivers for me so no worries!
