A question for Flex 3401 users

Does the heat build up affect how a product acts on the pad? Clumping, caking, or anything like that? How often would you say you have to take a break or switch to a fresh pad to avoid any problems?

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

I understand, and I'll likely just have to bite the bullet, but it's just one of those things that seems more expensive than it should be. I mean $100+ just for a foam lance attachment, that's stretching reasonable pricing just a bit if you ask me. Not to mention, if you don't already own a...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

Thanks for the guidelines, I think I can adhere to most of those if not all. Though, I do not own a pressure washer. I've thought about buying a cheapo electric one from harbor freight for about $60-70 which I think would be enough to do the job. Though any of the foam gun attachments on...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

I knew there was DA haze left over from compounding, I would have went over everything with a fine polish but I didn't have another full day or more of time to complete such task. So I figured it was better to protect what I had done so far and revisit the project at a later date and re-polish...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

Thank you for the kind words, I wish I was faster and could get projects done in some of the time frames I hear people talking about on here but I can't imagine how that's possible when I'm not working with a $350 polisher. Anyway, I'll have to make do with my Griot's. I'll have to try machine...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

Yeah I mean the car is coated right now, so at least I'm protected for the most part. If anything I'll pick up some PBL prep cleanser (kind of overpriced at $30 for 8 oz but what am I going to do, can't use the coating without that prep polish right?!), and go at it again maybe repolish a few...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

Not sure how people achieve no dusting with uber. Temperature was a good 70-80 degrees. Prep'd the pad how Mike Phillips shows and only used 3 dots per pass. If anything I felt like I was underusing product which may have caused the dusting, and I was on speed 5 most of the time. Also I cleaned...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

Certainly plausible, but how else would you apply the coatings. No one is going to use 10 fresh applicators for 1 car application. Also, the next day, the paint looked practically perfect, no marring or swirls of any sort in direct sunlight. The UC definitely dusted a damn decent amount during...

PBL Paint Coating impressions/looking for feedback

For sake of longevity I'll try to keep this rather short. I had a yearly car show to prepare for (Wicked Big Meet in Stafford Springs, CT for anyone curious) so I took this as an opportunity to try out the PBL paint coating I had purchased last year and hadn't had a chance to use. Car is a 2014...

2014 Subaru STi detail, kind of..

I wouldn't have thought to use more product, I already thought I was fairly generous with the priming. Did you find yourself using significantly more product (total) for the whole car than you would have under usual conditions? I'll have to revisit the polishing next spring since everything is...

2014 Subaru STi detail, kind of..

The paint was fairly clean to start, rinsed thoroughly, and wash with a two bucket method and a carpro wool wash mitt. I agree that Subaru has soft paint, but I'm leaning more towards the speedy prep towel, as many have experienced micro-marring with this tool. I was only using light hand...

Only used enough to prime the pad per Mike Phillips' recommendation, then only 3 pea-sized drops every test pass. I think the weather just ended up being too cold for the product to work as intended.

2014 Subaru STi detail, kind of..

This is a continuation of my previous thread: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/72835-so-dirty-beautiful.html After washing and claying (speedy prep towel) my car, I brought her inside to start polishing. There was definitely some evident micro-marring from the speedy prep...

    So dirty and beautiful.

Yeah I had the Accessport from my current WRX, which I will most certainly be using on the STi. However, not until I install the DW65c fuel pump, ID1000 cc injectors, and Moroso 85645 dual catch-cans I currently have waiting; at that point I will be getting a protune.

That's one lucky daughter getting a GTI. She should be very thankful! :xyxthumbs:

    So dirty and beautiful.

Ambient temperature in the garage is 56 degrees currently, I think with a space heater I shouldn't have too many issues polishing and coating on Monday and Tuesday.

    So dirty and beautiful.

I traded in my 2013 WRX for the STi, I felt like I cheated myself by settling for the WRX when I've wanted the STi since they were introduced. I should have just bought the STi in the first place last year, but I guess you live and learn. As to the 2015's, it's generally not a good idea to buy...

    So dirty and beautiful.

It's not so much the time I'm afraid of putting in (I actually have the week off from work :D). I'm just more worried about the polish not working as well in that temperature. Even more I'm worried about the PBL Paint Coating not flashing/curing strong enough where I won't feel like I gave her a...

    So dirty and beautiful.

I went to inspect and snap some pictures of my new 2014 Subaru WRX STi today. I'll be picking her up Monday, since my insurance agency was closed on the weekend. I must have called my salesman on 5 separate occasions during the 3 month wait for my factory order just to remind him that nobody...
