rupes21 making a loud noise the first time

I did. I checked that right away and it was tight and properly secured. I did notice however that the original design of the backing plate has metal where the flat part of the circle sits. After the washer mod the metal part is covered by the washer. Anyone else notice this?

rupes21 making a loud noise the first time

So I broke in my new Rupes21 that I ordered from AG yesterday. For about the first 5 minutes of use there was a loud metal rattling sound. It went away afterwards and never came back.. Any idea what it could be? :buffing:

    Flex3401vrg or Rupes Bigfoot?

They are both around the same price, and they are both the next step up from the PC/GG. But I agree that you can't really compare the two. One is forced action and the other is a traditional DA.

    Flex3401vrg or Rupes Bigfoot?

I am interested to see if those who complain about the Flex walking use Rotary or not. Rotary has taught me to have a very good hand and keeping the pad perfectly flat (if you don't you will really learn what walking is) So the FLEX shouldn't be a problem for me. With that said i still bought...

You should know as soon as you start polishing. I've never done a Fiesta but the last Ford I did had pretty hard paint.

One Step Polish to my Product Line

I usually reach for PF2500 on soft paints. For harder paints you can try D300 or SIP. Or even FG400 if the paint is hard enough.

GG vs Flex Vs Rupes for Newbie

I'm sure you will find a way to get the FLEX or Rupes later on. I'd go for the GG personally.

GG vs Flex Vs Rupes for Newbie

The GG or Rupes is more of a beginner friendly option. The FLEX requires a certain technique to not have it walk on you. Much like rotary.

MF Pads vs Foam Pads Pros/Cons

I have used many brands of microfiber pads. I just have to try the new chemical guys ones and the buff and shine ones and I would have tried them all. I use buff and shine and lc foam pads on a regular basis. Which is more durable? (Longevity) foam by far. I have over 200 foam pads and i have...

    Rupes 21 & Flex 3401 Comparison + Detailer's Paint Coating

I agree with both of you. Since I don't own both I cant conclude anything but I decided long ago to buy both. They both have their place as well as pros and cons. Well I just placed an order on the Rupes 21 and will likely get the FLEX later on this year.

    Rupes 21 & Flex 3401 Comparison + Detailer's Paint Coating

Do tell :) I'm about to buy a Rupes21. But have wanted a FLEX for so long. I'm only buying the 21 because everyone is telling me its the best thing since sliced bread. My logic tells me the FLEX should be more powerful.

    pads delaminating advice.

It's strange because I bought them through a recommendation. My friend used his MF pads for over 10 cars without a problem. My pad lasted half a hood and a cold water rinse. Not cheap pads either...

Should I call meguiars or autogeek regarding the MF pads? meguiars rep forwarded me to a mailbox -__- Emailed Optimum and they told me to talk to the supplier.

Flex vs rupes go with flex my honest opinion

I say buy both. The forced action FLEX is likely to cut faster than the Rupes but might not finish as nice easily. I wouldn't really call the FLEX a DA . It's more of a rotary/da hybrid. The Rupes is a true DA and still has the disadvantages of a DA (it still stops if you work on curved...

    pads delaminating advice.

Yep. I've already got some on hand. I'll try out the LCs the next time I decide to use MF. Hopefully they do better. I do notice they seem to shed alot. Just from looking at them. I actually tried the Meguiars MF on the recommendation that they do not de-laminate. So kind of disappointing that...
