2011 Vermillion Red BMW 335i Cabriolet

Wonder if I can drum up a pic on my car. It's new and I'm no experienced damp sander, I couldn't bring myself to touch the finish with sand paper

2011 Vermillion Red BMW 335i Cabriolet

I'm super digging that color. I suspect my VW has a bit of the "infamous BMW orange peel" that you're talking about Tony. Have you noticed this on any of the new VW golf/gti's? I guess that's assuming that you've done a few of them.

    Quality Issues with Griot's Stuff?

Maybe just save stuff up and get other products that you prefer better, then when you need to come south (I'm guessing you're in the Seattle area) drop it off. Like Mike says, we all will have varying opinions on products we choose to use or not. Depending on the products, I might snag em from ya.

    Clay recommendations

I have thought about some OTC meguiars clays for temp, unless I get good results from it... Could I maybe get a PM with some info about what you prefer? That is if that's legal around here. Also thanks for the current recommendations.

    Clay recommendations

Just wanted some opinions on the different types of clay... Looking at the Meguiars and probably just other medium clays. What do you guys use, prefer, have good luck with. Am not happy with Griot's and looking to make a change.

    Molecularmann is HERE!

Good luck with your science pursuit. Mine hasn't gone well. I've been science jobless since I graduated in May of 2009. Economy just stinks right now for that in my area. But here's to hoping your luck is better than mine ;)

    Quality Issues with Griot's Stuff?

Out of curiosity, what are the products that are giving you hassles?

    Quality Issues with Griot's Stuff?

I have one spray nozzle that likes to dribble but it does give me a fine spray or a stream. All of their stuff (except maybe their clay) has done as well or better than other products I've tried. Also, their customer service is top notch. Any hardware item (brushes, sprayers, etc) they will...

    Griot's paint clay...

Shane, you make a good point, didn't really give that a thought. A4, it's off I-5 at the 38th street exit and follow 38th down till just about when it hits south Tacoma way. It'll be on the right. If you check their site they sometimes have meets in their lot. I stopped by last time when they...

    Griot's paint clay...

Well, I followed up the claying I did on the hood today with the baggie test. I still feel a few bits and bumps here and there. Just was surprised when I used it on the parents van that was EXCESSIVELY dirty and it came up near spotless compared to the other pictures floating around on the AG...

    I Might Like Brussels Sprouts!

For a LSP you don't actually need to have the pad spinning, the vibration puts out just as much of an even coat as the spinning pad. IME anyways, just tossin a couple pennies out there.

Detailed: 2009 Nissan GT-R White Pearl

Is that A-pillar a kinda thin black painted plastic? If so what was your process with with it? I'm having issues with my GTI's B-pillars, super soft paint on the pillars and can't get it to finish out nicely.

    Griot's paint clay...

Okay, for anyone out there using the Griot's paint clay, have you had issues with picking up contaminants on the surface? I see all these pics of people showing their clay stuffed with crap after doing a panel. I just clayed a car that I know for a fact hasn't been washed in 3+ years (parents...

What I have, what I need, haven't detailed in a decade!

I didn't read through this thread fully but I also have a red GTI and if the dealer did anything like they did with mine... they've filled and hidden swirls and holograms... after the 10 or so washes it's gotten they've REALLY been showing up. Nothing major but its not a perfect finish like I...

What exactly is the advantage to the thinner pads? If its the same foam won't they work exactly the same?
