As far as a web site...

That sounds like something to look into. I am not afraid of coding and have no problem learning syntax to make the page do what I want. Thanks for the site and info!

As far as a web site...

I have a question that pertains to this thread, but slightly off. When designing a website does the "language" matter? I am assuming that it is what the visitor sees that matters, not how it is handled on the server side. As far as security, features, etc I know it would matter. So the...

    Beginner - Tweak My Cart

Do you have microfibers yet? Dont forget to add those for buffing off the polish, wax, etc. Also you could try the Menzerna SIP, 106FA route. Those polishes work great for me!

Operate as an LLC or am individual

For a detailing business with no employees, it seems the LLC is the way to go for liability. That way I can have the insurance to cover any accidents that may occur and it seems (more state specific research needed) that my personal finances are going to be reasonably safe. I am not worried...

Operate as an LLC or am individual

This is where I lack information and understanding. With a sole proprietorship is the business entity separate from your personal finances? And can you get insurance to cover mistakes or accidents? I am trying to understand the difference between it and the LLC and really don't know where to...

Operate as an LLC or am individual

LLC is not incorporating. I am interested in hearing other opinions as I am thinking about doing LLC.

    Order of Operations

PEMDAS? Is that how the order of operations goes? Oh wait, this isn't school, I would definitely go with BobbyG!

A bit of a dilemma here. Business related question.

You could always offer to "buy" the business off your prior manager. That may be a way to not lose a friend and still get the business that you need for detailing.

    Win a Meguiar's Pad Washer!

I will gladly write you a review! I would love to have this! My favorite Megs product is the one I use the most, Megs Gold Class Shampoo! Easy to get, doesn't cost a bunch, and very effective at cleaning!

    washing in the rain

Most of the time I am not opposed to washing in the rain. I see a wash as getting the grime off the vehicle. So while it may not be 100% due to the rain already there and potentially spotting a bit, it will get the layer of crap off that is already there. And that is the point of a wash.

Any suggestions for making this color "pop"

Another way to get that wow effect is in the presentation. Before you start the detail get the car out in the sun and make sure they see the swirls and defects. By knowing how the car looks prior to the swirl removal, the big finish is that much better. And for the final show off, you also...

Meguiar's leather conditioner destroyed my seats!

I am assuming the Turtle wax is not as aggressive a cleaner. And the 2 step megs cleaner followed by the conditioner was just a bit more aggressive.

    New black car paint

Just checking to make sure :xyxthumbs: I know both black cars I bought brand new came with the Dealer Installed Swirl Option (DISO). So I wouldn't be surprised if your new black car was so equipped. If it isn't, then that is awesome!

    New black car paint

Do you have a poorboys polish? Or do you have the black hole glaze? If it is just a glaze, you wouldn't actually be correcting anything; you would be filling in the swirls and hiding them.

    Couple of questions....

Personally I would suggest getting a new backing plate, the 4" or 5" one. And going with 5.5" pads. I use the Lake Country CCS 5.5" and love them. The smaller pads with the PC will help you correct the paint a little more quickly due to the smaller surface area of the pad.

how did you get new business when starting

For full disclosure I am just starting out and don't have a customer base yet, but my first few offers for work are coming from word of mouth. The first from my wife driving her freshly detailed car to work and her co-workers being impressed and wanting their vehicles to look the same. And...

First paid detail: 2006 BMW 330i

I loved the interior as well. I was very pleased with how it turned out. I think the seats turned almost a full shade darker! It was SIP. No need to wet sand at all :buffing:
