How did you apply the tire dressing? Regular ol' foam applicator?

Menzerna Power Gloss or Optimum Compound?

I'm asking myself the same question. I'm leaning towards Menz PG to complement 106FF and I'll pick up a yellow pad in case I need it. XMT #3 & 6.5" or 5.5" orange didn't cut it on the Accord - nice and shiny, but lots of etching still

UDM died and AG to the rescue

So maybe a bit over a month ago, I ordered a UDM and my other starting supplies. It worked great and I was on my way to learning the art of the DA orbital polisher. After many hours put into my Subaru and wife's Accord, the UDM developed a problem at the end of the Accord. A loose connection...

The tire shine looks good - dark and shiny, but not glossy, do I have it right?

How does this combo sound - Optimum Compound & XMT 360

Thanks all - I noticed after I replied to D&D that the 106FF came in a 32oz bottle, so definitely a good value overall. It is in my shopping cart and I'll let you all know how it handles the Goat. Thanks!

How does this combo sound - Optimum Compound & XMT 360

Yeah the GTO has minor swirls, not bad at all. Menzerna 106 is pretty pricey-will it take out more moderate swirls too? The price tag is a tad high for my taste...

How does this combo sound - Optimum Compound & XMT 360

Good question - what about it? I've just heard so much raving about XMT 360 I figured it was the way to go. Thoughts everyone?

How does this combo sound - Optimum Compound & XMT 360

So I have XMT #3 & #1, but I hate how much it dusts. I like the 5.5" low profile orange pads for swirl removing and the 5.5" white pads for final polishing before wax. From what I've read, Optimum does require longer working time but has zero dusting - that is very appealing to me. You think...

Is there a matrix showing Polish advantages/disadvantages?

If there is a relatively small amount of dust in the areas I need to finish, I will QD/MF it. If the whole car is pretty covered in the dust (which happened regularly) I will wash the whole thing. I think in the future my strategy will be to do the whole car with one compound (say for instance...

Is there a matrix showing Polish advantages/disadvantages?

I used the XMT products a lot with my UDM, so I'll share my input on this here. XMT dusts like crazy as a whole. XMT #3 dusts more using the 5.5" low profile orange pad than it does with the LC CCS 6.5" orange pad, but both dust. XMT #1 with a white pad dusts a little too, but not nearly as...

    Applying waxes - best practices?

I picked up a couple of the red hand applicators from AG last order and I like them. Before the pad is "primed" so to speak, sometimes it will get stuck and I will lose control of the pad. It is a little big to fit in the XMT 180 container, so I just scrunch it in and swirl around to get wax on...

    Xmt 360??

Thanks guys, I think I will make a pass with XMT #3 and maybe get 360 to use after it instead of #1. Not sure if I wanna use DG105 for the long-term sealant or instead plan to detail it more often (as it should look good more frequently if I don't use the long-term sealant ;) ), so 360 may work...

    Xmt 360??

Figured I'd ask here instead of starting a new thread: how are 360's swirl removing properties? I understand it cleans/polishesh/protects, but my GTO only has minor swirls and an AIO product would be nice so I don't have to make 2 passes with the UDM. Thanks

What are your all time favorite MF towels

I really like the 10-pack for $29 special that they have. One side is super plush, the other is very fine. The plush side is plusher than the Indigo towels IMO, and are great for wax removal or buffing. The Indigo towel as well is good for wax removal, good idea to have one or two of those...

    XMT Glaze + CCS Pads

I got the XMT Intermediate Swirl Remover package and the directions on the AG page say to use the grey pad. I'm sure anything softer would be fine too. If you're not doing any correction, seems to me like you should use a grey or softer pad. Gray Finishing Foam 6.5" - Composition is...

So what is the verdict? CCS pads or good ole' flat pads?

Do you mean the 4" low profile or the 5.5? Just curious. I'd get the 4" but don't want to have to deal with a new backing plate - more cost & hassle when changing over.

So what is the verdict? CCS pads or good ole' flat pads?

I was (and am) a DA polisher newb and got the XMT Intermediate kit, which came with the 6.5" LC CCS pads. It seemed like a popular choice here and I believe is also recommended by TropiCare, a vendor on LS1GTO.com. So I thought, what the hey, everyone uses 'em right? Well, I'm not too fond of...
