    New Product - Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0

Im bringing up and old comment because of what I felt on my car after the detailer had applied OptiCoat: The car did feel smooth. Im not sure why, as I watched him apply it......he did a PrepSol wash on the whole car, a quick polish to remove some defects, then did a PrepSol wipe on each panel...

    Need advice...Foam Guns

My foam master is actually "hot and cold", for some reason Ill get good thick foam and then all of a sudden not. Yes there is soap in it :) I thought it was the screw at the top but I have it tightened down and its not making any difference. Ive NEVER had the screw in the end of the sliding...

    Brake rotor rust

^ that. If the rust isnt in the area of where the pads rub (it most likely isnt, or else your pads arent actually stopping the car), you can look into powdercoating, or maybe zinc-coated rotors. I got rotors with a black zinc coating on them for my wifes car, and the edges and the "hats" (the...

    Need advice...Foam Guns

I have the Gilmour hose end, with the adjustable ratio. I started using 2 buckets, but Ive revised into a single bucket with grit guard to rinse/wring out my wash mitt. Ill hit one side of the car with just a water spray to get the loose stuff off. Then foam that side of the car once and...

Just got a foam gun and have a question.

CG Citrus Wash and Clear. Not quite sure the dilution rate but I dont use very much at all. Have a bottle of Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild, waiting until the CG stuff is done to give it a try (Ive heard very good things about it)

I am now an OPC believer

To me its always good practice to wipe down with water after any chemical is used. I mostly worry about "heavy" spots being missed (cracks and crevices) and the chemical staying in there for a long time before evaporating, etc. For leather seats I sprayed on some OptiClean, scrubbed, wiped...

I am now an OPC believer

I purchased a gallon and made a 32 oz spray bottle of 3:1. So far used it on the leather in the wifes car (note her leather was just like the pics in the original post, and 3:1 cleaned it up without issue), our leather couch (which was even worse than the wifes car), a couple carpet "oops"-es...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

I noticed that as well, but wasnt sure if it was just the angles on my hood (its sloped pretty well so i figured that gravity was making it look like sheeting) Noticed on the vertical panels (doors, etc) that I got mostly beading and gravity caused the beads to run off after a bit.

    leather cleaner

Ive actually had good success using Optimum PowerClean diluted 3:1 with water as a leather cleaner. Takes off all sorts of stuff and brings the leather back to the original clean matte look. As for protection, you can look into things like Leatherique if you want to go all out (I had the...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

No such luck here....I still see the high spots a week later. Granted the car didnt really ever sit in the sun, just drove the 450 miles each way and parked in a garage. Im not too worried about it, just happy the OptiCoat is on there (presumably) and helping make the soft paint a little less...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

My car is a metallic black, but from what ive seen (I wish I could dig up the pics of the black BMW that had high spots, but cant find the link anymore), high spots would show up looking similar to what your paint would look like if kids bubble solution was spread onto it.....almost a rainbow...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

Yeah I was thinking that or megs 205 (105 if necessary). They arent very obvious spots, actually probably why he and I both missed them, and the car still looks excellent otherwise. I remember seeing pics of a black BMW that had a lot of high spots, these arent anywhere near as bad.

    OPC as a car wash!!!

The one thing I miss about my old job......we had a parking garage to park in, and on each level of the garage there was one spot.....I called it the ultimate spot. Basically 4 huge concrete pillars holding up part of the level above. You could pull a car in between all the pillars and because...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

My guess is that it would be just to ensure you got good coverage, kind of like why we make passes in two directions when putting on an LSP, etc. Id also guess that if you got good coverage the first time, the second pass might end up with a lot of high spots you need to knock down. I noticed...

    What Paint for Trim?

Is that rubber or flexible plastic? I had much success using SemCoat products on the fender flares of my Nissan Frontier. It was a 2 step process (3 if you wanted to clearcoat it all). There is a primer/prep and then the color coat. A decent body shop should have their products. They arent...

OptiCoat 2.0....any way to tell if it bonded?

I was curious if there is a way to tell if OptiCoat bonded correctly. Im seeing lots of beading and water run off, so there is definitely something on the surface. But the detailer and I used a microfiber to go back over some high spots, I was curious if that happened to make a difference in...

Best Car Wash for Opti Coat?

I know the thread is 10 days old, but I had my car OptiCoated a week ago, then went on a 900 mile round trip a couple days after. Got home yesterday, washed the car today. So far my opinion is that you will not really need any sort of pre-soak on the car. I use a Gilmour foam gun and CG...

Rough paint 3 weeks after polish n wax

Is it possible it might be environmental or construction fallout? I had something similar happen to my old car. Was as smooth as could be, then one day I ran my finger across the hood and it felt rough. It turned out to be overspray from....something. It was all over the car (even the glass)...

    I hate pollen?

Same problem here....black car that looked really nice after I washed it a few days ago. Now it looks like a bumble bee from the yellow pollen all over it. Not sure I want to try the CCD on it, since the paint seems so soft. Gotta do something though, it looks not so nice! Hopefully the...
