Griots products and boss system, why I'm switching!

When I got back into professional detailing a few years ago, I went with the Megs Detailer line. Meguiars was a name I've known and trusted so it was an easy decision. I had not even heard of Griots until a few years ago. Heard a few good things about them, found out the flagship store was 20...

    2013 Silver truck...No swirls?

Anything is possible...but....I'm sure they are there unless your washing has been meticulous. Helps to hold the flashlight behind 8-10" from the surface at a slight angle from my experience. Make sure it's a tight focus and a very bright beam. Mid-day sun is the best thing though. Mike

SEMA 2016 Video: Griot's Garage Polisher, Pads and Products

I'm slowly migrating to using primarily Griot's products. I'm local to the flagship store and it's so east to just pop in and pick up what's needed. I was there yesterday getting more 3-1 Leather Spray when Nick and Richard Griot came in. Always nice to see and chat with these guys, true car...

Most powerful vaccum - Metro or Festool?

This is what makes the 1-2 hour vacuum times happen! (and why regular filter changes / cleaning is needed) https://www.facebook.com/FirehouseMobileDetail/photos/pcb.945175125583591/945173225583781/?type=3&theater Mike

    Looking for ideas....

Thanks for the input so far guys! I've always thought the name was kinda cheesy...but if you are digging it, I might just keep it. I do have a sign-up sheet to ensure I have at least 4+ vehicles on any given day. I do a quick recommendation for future work on every car and have done a lot of...

SEMA 2016 Video: Griot's Garage Polisher, Pads and Products

The MF pad cuts better than the white pads IMO...there is also an MF pad without the pad, that is it's just the MF surface and the velcro only. Lots of correcting power there. https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/microfiber+fast+cutting+pad.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=fn Mike

    Looking for ideas....

I have a service where I will go to an office building and do multiple basic washes. This is typically medical centers, law offices, etc.... . I currently call this my "Office Party" service. I just don't like the name and am having a hard time coming up with anything better. Here is a link to...

Most powerful vaccum - Metro or Festool?

I've been running a Rigid WD4070 with the "Auto Detail Kit" since March of '13. Filters get cleaned and swapped every 3 cars and hoses get rinsed out every job. I've never had an issue, suction has been great. I do have a back up vac I carry with me, but never needed it. I'll spend a solid hour...

    How should I attack this?

Use the HD polish first with a polishing pad. Always start least aggressive and move up if needed. Your Griots is a heavy compound, the HD polish should take care of them easily. (I have and use both regularly) Mike

    Detailing Gloves for paint correction

If your machine handles are squeaky clean, try some microfiber gloves for a bit extra padding. They shouldn't interfere with or contaminate wipe down. Microfiber Gloves/ Pair Mike

Any good way to remove the deep scratch?

For the area you sanded, sounds like a repaint might be the best option, you may have sanded thru the paint. Pics of that area will be very helpful. If insurance is covering it, do all of them. If not...for the remaining scratches, I'd try out a Dr. Colorchip kit for your color. good luck...Mike

    Cheap Paint Guage Review

I would try to locate a body shop or fellow detailer in your area who has a high-end gauge and do some side by side comparisons to get an idea of it's accuracy. If its decent for $20 that is an awesome buy!! Mike:xyxthumbs:

Interior Detailing - Show me what's best and what to buy....

I try to keep it fairly simple.... *Megs Leather Cleaner for (leather or vinyl) seats and door panels, Griots 3 in 1 Leather for a final clean and condition. *Folex and or Megs D102 Foaming carper cleaner for carpets, fabric seats and headliner. *Megs Hyperdressing at 6:1 for all interior...

Detailing guide chart (banner) steps to detail.

I like the idea, but having something like this posted up where customers might see them would make you lose credibility. Myself, I would be concerned if there was a chart in the shop i was at with a guide to tell them how to do the job they are supposed to be pros at. I have a procedure guide...

Made in China Vs made in Italy = 2 broken Boss 21

I have been using my G21 almost everyday since they were introduced. Never had an issue with it......HOWEVER.....the screws on the counterbalance did come loose in the first week. Some red loctite and no worries. Anything with that much in the way of movement and vibration WILL have some...

Meg's final touch, ultimate quick detailer, Xpress spray wax

So I use both. After a wash, if I'm NOT doing any other paint work, I'll use D156 as a drying aid. Works great....depending on the temperature and paint color. Darker colors, especially when warm or hot out, it will be a bit streaky and blotchy. It will buff out OK with a good toweling, or a...
