Dull Spot In Paint - How To Fix?

Gentlemen, I agree with what you are thinking based on what we can see in the pic, except one point that the OP made....this is a new dull spot that he has never seen before. If it was caused by sanding, I would assume he would be aware of/familiar with the spot. The fact that it just suddenly...

    Which Kit

That's how I started a few years back. Started on the wife's car and moved up from there. Even though I was new with a machine, I went for the Flex and found it very easy to use. I was afraid of doing damage as well, but quickly found that I wasn't doing enough to correct let alone do damage...

    Which Kit

What type of paint correction are you planning on doing? Are these daily drivers (DD) that you will primarily be doing a 1 step with or are these garage queens worthy of a 3 step correction? If you plan to do 3 step, flex is a great way to go...if 1 step with an AIO, any of the DAs sold here...

Bird dropping etching and crows feet solution

Personal opinion...those aren't bird stains, that is clear coat failure as well. Can't be 100% sure from a picture, but that's what it looks like to me and would explain why it isn't correcting.

Permanon Platinum I Just Protected my Car for Winter...In the Rain!

hey, you do what you have to do. Obviously the conditions were not optimal and it will have an effect on the durability, but something is better than nothing. If you're dedicated enough to do it in the rain, I'm sure you will follow up at some point when you have better conditions. Good job.

All LSP's shot on lower panels; user error?

I wouldn't necessarily say they are all shot, but seriously deteriorated. The salt products they use on roads these days is just plain NASTY!! They will take their toll on any LSP wax or sealant. The fact that they have been on there a month through 3 different salting sessions, your results...

Dull Spot In Paint - How To Fix?

The pic looks like a milky white color not a dull spot. Anytime I see that I think clear coat failure. If that's the case, only one way to fix it, repaint it.

    Metallic paint or not?

I love the look of metallic, just repainted my 75 vette from solid corvette red to a deep red metallic, wife owns a red jewel tint metallic Camaro, my truck is bright silver metallic, and our daily driver Malibu is red jewel tint metallic. If I were going to buy a boat, I guess I'd have to get...

    Is detailing a good business?

How serious do you want to be? If you are looking at this as a full time career, you need to have a good steady clientele to make it pay. Look into insurance, including medical. Check out and understand the benefits of getting bonded, (some states may require it), know the difference and what...

    Critique my pricing system!

I'm not familiar with your area and the average income there, so I can only assume your pricing is okay since you've been doing this for a bit. One thing I would change is your wording on the interior portion where you say floor mats and trunk are removed. I doubt you are removing the trunk...

Lake Country CCS work well and are easy to use. You can get a 6 pack at a pretty reasonable price

    Help

I'm not that familiar with the HF polishers, I just know they are inexpensive. The main thing I would look at on this (you can call their customer service to make sure) is that the backing plate is changeable. You would want a 4.5 or 5" plate so you can get 5-5.5" pads. If you go with this...

    How to improve my technique

Save your money until you can afford more. Spend the $150 on items such as grit guards, (by the inserts and put them in a $5 homer bucket from home depot), MF towels, brushes... Doesn't do any good to do paint correction if you don't have the tools to properly maintain it.

    Help

If you get a 3", make sure you have a lot of time available. I can't even imagine polishing an entire car with a 3", I only use them for small areas (window pillars) and applying wax. Spend the money on a 6. All of them are good and will get the job done. If money is an issue, I'd go...

    How to improve my technique

Man you have opened a can of worms now....I know you said you plan to hold off on a polisher for now, but that will make the biggest difference for your results. Eventually you will have to take that step if you want to get serious (or get some serious exercise doing everything by hand and not...

    New guy realizing small mistakes

Learning how to properly detail was the biggest mistake I ever made. I used to love going to local car shows and looking at all of the nice old muscle cars and hot rods people bring out...even the Friday night grocery store parking lot gathering was a weekly treat. Now I walk around and look...

    Please help to

I'm assuming a DD. Why not give paint correction a try and see what the result s are? Most of what you describe/show will come out (I doubt you will even need to use a yellow pad), obviously the chips to the basecoat won't. If the final results are acceptable, you save the money of repaint or a...

How to get old all weather floormats looking new again?

If they are in the condition you are saying they're in, you will not get them looking new. The petroleum has reacted with the rubber/dye and discolored it. Results of people walking through all of those nice oil stains we see in a parking lot and then transferring it from their shoes to the...
