    Rupes Maintenance

I'll echo Todd on this... I don't follow any hard and fast rules. I have my 'everytime use' steps: Wipe down the housing, coil cord loosely, visual inspection of plate, blow out housing if needed. Then every so often I add a little lubrication to the backing plate. Its fairly obvious when it...

    The Blue Rupes Pad

To clarify - the priming step should include moderate to firm pressure, not light, with the stiffer blue or UHS foams.

    The Blue Rupes Pad

Priming is key with the blue foam, not only to prevent sling, but also to warm the foam up a little. Place your drops of polish half way between the center hole and the edge of the pad. Place the pad on the paint and set the polisher to speed 2 or 3. Pull the trigger and hold the pad...

First thoughts on the Rupes LHR 15

Glad to hear you are liking the LHR15ES so far. Great tool... actually spent a little time with one today on a small project. Have fun and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

    Hey Geeks

Great clarification Mike. To the OP - good call on the 15, it remains my favorite tool and the one I reach for most often myself and as you can imagine we have quite the selection here at RUPES USA :) To the washer mod, its something that does increase pad rotation by over-riding the built...

Rupes 21 -vs- Rupes 21 Mark II

15's have been shipping, but they're a little behind the 21's. The decision was made to knock out the 21's first as there was more demand around them, so 15's started production a little behind the 21's. Trust me when I say the our team in Milan has been haulin' butt to get tools produced, but...

Attn. Rupes Updated Cyclo in the works?

My point being, and as I said in my earlier post, its within 1 lbs of all those tools. We're not talking about a tool thats 2x the weight of its contemporaries. Comments lean towards how the Cyclo is TOO heavy or just SOOOO HEAVY when the weight difference isn't really all that great.

I'm looking at shipping a car. Who should I contact?

I've shipped more than a few cars, so I might be of some help. Unless its a collector car or something you REALLY care about take Reliable and similar big names off the list. Enclosed transport is not only expensive, but necessary for a DD. One of the easiest ways to ship is to go to use...

    Got my first Rupes!

The duetto and the mini share a common chassis, but they are not the same machine. The same way the 15 and the 21 share a chassis. That being said - could you put a mini plate on the duetto? Certainly. We wouldn't recommend it from a factory perspective b/c it throws the tool out of balance...

    Got my first Rupes!

Our foam composition does require a bit of adjustment to technique, but once you dial it in the results are great. The two pads you didn't list (yellow and gray) are actually my favorites... next time you're ready to stock up give them a try - you'll be happy you did. :dblthumb2:

Why I Chose the 15 Over The 21?

I would suspect that you'll see Legacy 15's and 21's begin to show up on ebay or buy/sell pages shortly after the Mark II hits the market. The good news is that we will continue to sell and support the legacy units with parts and repairs, so even if you find a well worn one for a deal, it...

    Got my first Rupes!

A number of things, size of the pads is a consideration, but I do believe the 15 gets underestimated in cutting power. Thats not to say that the 21 isn't the king of correction, but the gap between the two is much smaller than most people realize. The 15 loses the stroke battle, but it makes it...

    Got my first Rupes!

Glad to hear you're stoked on your LHR15... its personally my favorite tool in the line as well. The 21 gets all the headlines, but you'll find a lot of our staff reaching for the 15 more often than not. Thank you Mike! Echoing what others have said, the RUPES Bigfoot approach is a system...

Yes. Compressed air is the best way to go.

    5.5 Backing plate on a LHR 21ES?

Short answer - Yes. Long answer - still yes, but with an asterisk. The LHR21 and LHR15 are a system approach to paint correction. In order to balance the large orbit of the tools the backing plate and even pads are specifically weighted. Even using a different pad on the stock backing plate...

Christmas comes early! New RUPES Mark II BigFoot 21 and 15 Polishers

Yes. The new backing plate maintains the same incredible amount of lateral grip to keep the pads seated under the stress of the larger orbit, but the shear strength is much different. So removing pads is actually quite easy now, reducing the damage to the loop material and the potential for...

The Next REVOLUTION: The BigFoot Nano w/ iBrid Technology

While that sounds simple in principle its not practical. The 'driveshaft' (for lack of a better term) that passes thru the neck would need to be changed for long or short operation, and then you're getting into a reality of changing out parts directly connected to the motor. The chances for end...

The Next REVOLUTION: The BigFoot Nano w/ iBrid Technology

A few... one example being interior work. I used our demo tools to polish out the lens on an instrument cluster (interior) the long neck became too cumbersome around the steering column and the overhang of the dash, but the short was way easier to maneuver in there. Certainly, I think the long...

The Next REVOLUTION: The BigFoot Nano w/ iBrid Technology

Since Todd carried out the detail on the bike in our booth I'll leave him to speak more to that specific spot, but I can say from seeing the bike up close and personal for an entire week: many spots on it had thin paint from rider wear. This isn't some museum piece, its been ridden and had signs...
