Safest way to clean dried mud off of paint?

I think this is great advice. Anytime I'm cleaning a car, or my bike, I usually start with a good rinse. At first, I just get it wet, and give it a little bit of time to soak in and soften. I'll rinse it off with a gentle stream of water and have a look and repeat if needed. I like to gently...

    Detail Fail

Of all the people in the world who could have been walking past that car, it just happened to be one of the most capable in the world of making it shine again. Too bad the timing was off and you didn't catch the owner. I find myself looking at cars more carefully now. I've learned a lot and...

Advice on using CanCoat to coat tail pipes on a motorcycle

I used this to seal the painted parts on my bike and loved the results. Once I apply like I would to a painted clear coat, will it be ok with the heat of the pipes later when the bike is started? Some parts of the exhaust can get up to about 500 degrees or so. Would be great to use on the...

'14 Harley Dyna Low Rider - First time working on someone else bike

Yes, sir. Not sure how familiar you are with the product, but I'm thinking about using it to coat the chrome including the exhaust. Been looking online and it looks like it could be used on chrome for sure, just want to make sure it will be ok for the hot parts of the exhaust. Any thoughts?

'14 Harley Dyna Low Rider - First time working on someone else bike

Here is the rear fender on my son's Dyna Low Rider. I did a lot of before pics of the bike and when it's done, I'll get more pics and show it off, it's turning out really great. He put a bag on the fender and it marred the surface. I did the following: 1. Rinse with water. 2. Wash with...

Need a really good bug melter - ECH2O doesn't touch bugs

Dropped a few hundo at one by my house last night. Kid's run the place. Been in a few times. They have a full litany of stuff though, and a huge selection of MF. The Hex Logic pad are good stuff. They also do regular detailing classes, a basic, and an advanced.....and a 5 day long pro class.

Need a really good bug melter - ECH2O doesn't touch bugs

FTR, ECH2O is good stuff. I've used it to handle some minor road dust. It is pretty lubey, and is good for gently removing brake and road dust from the rims with a mf. I am still learning. After sealing the bike, i'd hoped I could maintain the bike without soaking it down every time. For...

Need a really good bug melter - ECH2O doesn't touch bugs

ECH20 is worthless for bug removal. Maybe if I get my fingernail pressed against the MF cloth and scrape it off, then it seems to work....lol. Anyhow, best thing I've found so far is HD brand Bug Remover. Any other suggestions? Maybe was I hoping for too much from a rinseless wash? Should I...

    ECH2O on CanCoat

Follow up : After using this quite a bit, i find it is worthless for getting anything other than dust off of the bike. It does nothing for bugs. Water alone works better on bugs. Back to the drawing board. I'm open to other suggestions.

    Road Trip Planned

500 is about as much as I can take from my wife talking about how much she can take. Wow....you ride!! As a new detailer, I made a rookie mistake with some detailing supplies I brought. I brought a nice red trimmed MF Cloth and a 1/2 dozen edgeless black MF cloths, nice quality. In another...

A Place for the Hard Bags While Cleaning the Bike

There was a Hundred Dollar alternative, but I put this together for about $20. I cut it, glued the parts and attached the foam in about 2 hours. I've used it for about 2 years now. Works perfect for the job of holding the hard bags for temporary storage as well as while I wash them. Here...

First Major Detail Planned this Weekend - Question about Wolfgang Products

If I clay barred it, I'd do a light polishing step before the PPE. I liked Wolfgang's Clay and Lube.

First Major Detail Planned this Weekend - Question about Wolfgang Products

If you were to consider adding another step before the PPE, you could use Wolfgang's Finishing Glaze. I did a two step correction on a Harley. Some parts need more attention than others . I used their Total Swirl Remover and then their Finishing Glaze. I am a newb as well but I can assure...

    Nano: luxury or very useful

there is what looks like a great deal right now for 535 for the long neck kit......been looking at this for a while now I had some spots on my bike where this would have come in handy....there are no shortage of tight spots I'm just an enthusiast, but this looks like it needs to be part of the...

    Road Trip Planned

We did some wandering. We made really great time and dipped down into Kansas, after that, I made an unplanned stop in St Louis to visit my brother's grave. It was unplanned, but one of the highlights of the trip. Meant a lot to be able to be there and think about him. Safe travels, sir. A...

    Road Trip Planned

I’ll get some more pics up when I get home... epic slow connection at the motel I’m at. Been a great trip. We rode about 5 hrs in pretty hard rain today and after a few semis left me in clouds of water and mist I threw in the towel. Looking forward to getting home.

Question: Do you feel spray sealants provide adequate protection compared to traditional sealants?

I'd heard otherwise, that technically it's not a coating, but as far as sealants go, it doesn't really fit in that category neatly either. I'm new, sir, and am here to learn. :) After posting, I thought, hmmm the spray on sealants they are talking about might be a different animal. Thanks...
