    2 Bucket Method, it works!

Wheels were washed first and rinse bucket was cleaned out afterwards. This is all from the body of the 09 Z06 I had in this past weekend. The car hasn't been washed in 2 months and been through several rainstorms, only driven several times a month. I use 2 different colors for my grit guards...

Damn, that is right around the corner from where I work,(610 and Post Oak, at the twin towers). I might be able to make it if my other friends do not want to hit the range first. G

    M105 Beginner Application

If the GG comes with a backing plate, why get another one? How bad are the swirls now? Personally it would be my last resort before I went ahead and used M105. You'd be surprised on how well Ultimate Compound and the MF system with D300 works, and they are a hell of a lot easier to work with.

Detailing pics and camera phone photos don't mix

The contrast and sharpness has been turned up in those 2 pics. With the right amount of light, a phone pic isn't too bad. I think this pic was taken at high noon, right under a popup tent. So it has about the right amount of light without it being in the sun. The pic is totally unedited in...

    d300 vs m105

OP, what pads are you using? What's your technique? You won't get much more aggressive of a compound then M105. Unless you can find M101. Too often many people get caught up on using a very aggressive compounds when they do not need to. Most cars I do now a days, even the ones with rock...

Detailing pics and camera phone photos don't mix

You can take some great photos with a phone... you just need some really good lighting. It's even more important with that small ass sensor and lens on your standard phone. As for color correction, I think it's fine. I only shoot in RAW just because it will give me the flexibility later...

    Hello from Houston, TX

Welcome to another HTown member! There are classes, but you would have to travel outside the city and state for those classes. I believe Mike Phillips host those classes on occasion. Another one I would love to attend is Todd Cooperiders class in OH. Chemical Guys do classes on the weekends...

Is Ultimate Compound the better way to go?

UC is very underrated IMO. For most cars that do not have heavy swirls, I usually go with UC or D300. I haven't touch M105 in months since getting M101.

    Brinkman swirl finder

If you look around, there are plenty good good LED flash lights that are more then capable of finding swirls. Mine would not hold a charge worth a damn. I emailed Brinkman, and no response after 3 weeks.

Best polish after using Meguiars Ultimate Compound?

Megs UC leaves a pretty decent finish to it depending on the pad you used.. If anything, get some M205 to remove any light swirl.

    Souveran Alternatives?

Having tested a bunch of different brands of waxes, I honestly can say I can't really tell that much of a difference in looks between all of them. Your prep is going to have a lot more do with your end product then which type of wax you use. For me, Collinite 845, 915 and 746 will always be...

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!! Swirls galore :(

As Mike has said numerous times, WORK CLEAN! Microfiber towels are cheap so change them often. Clean pads at least every single panel and change or clean them completely after every 4th or 5th panel. I opt to change them out as it's speeds up my workflow and I have more then 1 of each pad. I...
