Brand new Black Truck detailing ideas?

Any quality wax or sealant would work - there are plenty sold here. Hard to narrow it down but I think Blackfire Wet Diamond is the easiest product to apply that's out there. What you really want to do though, is to focus on your washing and drying technique. That is what primarily causes the...

Ooooh that smell: Favorite smelling products

Fuzion, Blackfire Spray Sealant, Sonax Matte Dash, Griots Poly Wax, Wolfgang Uber Rinseless, CarPro Reset... all some of my fav smelling products. Product scent makes a job much more enjoyable - I think a pleasant soap is about the most important thing. Tried using Iron-X soap and I can only...

Blackfire Midnight Sun paste wax over polish angel?

You can, theoretically, top whatever product you want with whatever other product you want. The thing you run into is whatever your literal last product you put on is going to have the most evident properties, such as water behavior, and you'll usually get diminished durability out of whatever...

Cleaning insoluble materials from micro fiber towels and pads

Same. Never had any problems with my towels. I try to keep this as simple as possible.

Cleaning insoluble materials from micro fiber towels and pads

Coatings I generally only apply/remove with suede towels and I consider them disposable. I honestly hate it because it feels extremely wasteful, but they always harden after use and I've never been able to stop that from happening, even with an APC soak or something. I have dedicated pads for...

    Review & How-To: Meguiar's Car Wash Plus

This looks like a great "intensive wash" product to use prior to paint correction. I didn't really see the appeal at first for it, but after seeing what it did to those scuff marks I can tell there is some micro abrasive wizardry going on. Thank you for the review. There's ta 2016 thread over...

    Second guessing essence purchase

I could not have had a further experience. I have gone through three bottles of Essence and it has never given me any problem. It remains the easiest product to wipe off paint next to Blackfire Wet Diamond that I have ever used. I gave away almost all my other polishes. OP - you made a fine...

    How to calculate cost per

I've never had a pad fail on me... I'm still using pads that are a few years old, but I don't do this for a living so I don't go through them like some people do. I don't bother coming up with a per car basis for pads or any other applicator type products. Just consider them a one-time expense...

    How to calculate cost per

Yes, you've got it. Divide the cost by the amount of product. If a product is 16oz and it's $30, it's $1.88/oz rounded up. So if you use 5 oz on a car, it's about $9.40 per application.

Going crazy ... can't use Megs Fast Finish yet ... Ohio weather

I think I have some McKee's paint coating left that I was going to use on my daily but I opted for EXO V2 instead. If you want I can send it your way so you don't have to wait to get it. Just PM me and it's yours. It should be enough to cover your Camaro.

Griots 3" Heavy Duty Orbital Backing Plate Review

Just wanted to provide some thoughts on Griot's new 3'' backing plate. Griots Garage 3 inch HD Backing Plate Mike P. has taken more in-depth pictures than I could hope to match in his initial showcase of the backing plate, found here. You'll notice it is more substantial than most foam...

    How Long Does it Take?!?!

Depends on the condition of the car, what kind of process I have to use for correction, and what kind of finishing product I'm using(wipe on walk away, spray and rinse, traditional wipe off, etc.) but mine take somewhere around 6-8 hours and that usually involves at least a vacuum and wipedown...

    Blue Pearl Suburu paint

I had a pretty easy time correcting a newer lapis blue WRX last weekend. Played really nicely with my G21 and a yellow pad. I ended up using Essence because I was coating it with CQ afterwards, but I did give Hyper Polish a shot and it worked very well. Bonus pic:

    MSDS Mckee's 37 High-Intensity APC+????

Cool. I thought that was pretty out of the ordinary. I appreciate you saying that.

    Polish Recommendation

Third recommendation for Essence. Uses the same abrasives as Reflect. Produces outstanding results.

    MSDS Mckee's 37 High-Intensity APC+????

Isn't it a little strange to call someone ignorant who wants more information on something? And isn't that a little presumptuous(and insulting) to imply that most people looking for this information are just "armchair chemists or keyboard cowboys"? Both of those terms carry an extremely negative...

Issues with Rupes mk2 - 15mm and buffer trail

I believe you - I've seen a couple posts on here showing that. I am just surprised to hear you sold the machine. I have never run mine above a 4 so I think I'm mitigating some of the heat buildup because of the low speeds.

Issues with Rupes mk2 - 15mm and buffer trail

Melts pads? I've had a MKII for about as long as they came out and I've never experienced any pad failure. I use mostly non-Rupes pads and polishes, too. Something else has to be going on there. OP - Can you provide a little more info? Product, pad choice, speed, passes, etc. Just to give us...
