    Sealant over AIO

That's what I'm thinking. Why use an AIO 1-step if it won't be the final step? A dedicated polish followed by a sealant application would make more sense to me. Same amount of time too, with better results (in theory).

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

Surprisingly I got zero haze. I did get a little on my first or second panel but I'm certain that was my technique (failing to keep the pad flat, moving too fast). I went back over that section with D300 and the haze was gone. It finished down remarkably well on this paint. I think I could've...

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

Thanks! I was looking at the results today in the sun and there definitely still some RIDS. However, considering how the sun shows EVERY defect, I am amazed at the drastic difference it made. Not a single swirl or spiderweb. I only did 3 passes slow with pressure, and a fourth pass a tad...

Observations/questions from first customers 2 step

Dumb question but why would you want to remove the oils anyhow? If you wanted to make sure they weren't masking something why wouldn't you use a pure polish with no oils to begin with?

    full detail package cost

You said "all day 6-8 hours" which I find incredible considering all those steps. It took me 2.5 hours just to compound my car, but I'm no pro and that was my first attempt at machine polishing. And I was mostly joking with you, Joe. Lighten up! lol

    full detail package cost

Hey, Joe, if you can do all that in 6 hours, I'll pay you to do two of my cars, and I'll by your round trip plane ticket to GA, and I'll buy you lunch, and I'll throw in a few beers!. I'd still come out at less than half of what some of these guys charge for one car. $1400?? Let me know...

How to judge cost of services?

I think a big change is coming to the auto-detailing world thanks once again to technology. The machines are getting better and more powerful, and the products are getting more efficient. This is allowing detailers to get great results in less time and with less effort. It's also allowing...

How to judge cost of services?

I don't think it's overly-complicated at all. One size cannot fit all. If I'm paying hundreds of $$ for a "car wash", I would like to know exactly what I'm getting. I think it's well-written and professional. I think the prices are very reasonable for the work. I especially like the $250...

Why do we polish after clay?

Hit it with a nice AIO or fine polish. A couple passes then LSP should take less than 2 hours. An AIO maybe 1.5 hours. If for nothing else, the satisfaction you get from polishing alone will be worth it. 2 hours is not a lot of time to dedicate to it. At least this way, next time you'll know...

    full detail package cost

Hey, I have seen the light. I just used the Meguair's DA system for the first time and talk about a paint transformation! It's amazing what products with current technology can do. And my car was severly neglected. If I were to do this professionally (which I couldn't!), this would be my primary...

    full detail package cost

Just curious, how long does it take you to do all that with a compounding on an average-sized sedan?

    full detail package cost

That's fine and I bet you can tell the difference, but I bet your $250 customer will not be able to distingiush between a 6 step process and a good 2 step. Save the concerted effort for those select customers willing to pay for it!

    full detail package cost

Wow, that's a lot of steps for $250. It would take me two days to do all that. Some of the steps seem redundant too (polish and glaze, sealant then wax?) or more for a concours auto. For practical detailing of every day drivers and eapecially for $250, I'd say replace all the polishing steps...

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

I'm glad I went with this system because I can't imagine how long it would've taken otherwise. It took me 6.5 hours just to compound and polish. I washed and clayed the day before. It's a lot of work. You guys that do this for a living have my respect! I couldn't do it day and day out.

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

I did add some Optimum car wax today for good measure, but what type of coating you recommend? No, sadly, it's an auto. BUT, I actually bought it for my daughter and she can't drive a manual, so, yeah.

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

Thanks, Guz. I really was amazed at how easy the D300 it took out the defects. Not sure if the G35 (2006) has soft clearcoat or if the condition wasn't as bad as I thought. Who knows? All I know is that it only took 2 or 3 slow passes to get the results I wanted. Only issue I ran into was...

DA Microfiber System Results - Amazing!

Finally got around to my first ever paint correction with a DA polisher. After lots of reading I decided to go with Meguiars DA microfiber system, and I'm glad I did. It was very easy to use and, wow, it just made those unsightly defects disappear. Almost completely! There are still some RIDS...

How to make Nxt Generation 2.0 more durable???

Hey, I love NXT - watch it! :bat: I've never heard of #476, just 845. Great, now I have something else I have to buy. lol
