How important is a foam gun to washing a car properly?

I have a foam gun, 2-bucket, DP rinseless, and DP waterless washes. They all have their place. I use the "foam gun" as a presoaker and prelubricator if the vehicle is really dirty. The foam is just a side effect that does nothing for me other than look cool. Before I ever heard of a foam gun...

    Which Buffer ?

I have both the 7424XP and new Griot's. I prefer the Griot's as it has a lot more power and is smoother in my experience.

Collinite 845 - the "Rocky Balboa" of waxes

I'm in love with this product. It's so easy to use, inexpensive, durable, and looks great. So far I've only used it on solid paint and look forward to testing it out on my truck's incredibly metallic paint.

    Your favorite shampoo? & why?

I have kept coming back to Meg's Gold Class, but I have been using DP Xtreme foam in my foam gun and buckets. I think the DP is really strong-perhaps too strong. I like Gold Class because it seems gentle, yet cleans well while being slick. I was very disappointed when I tried Meg's Ultimate...

    Van Cleaning

Find the spot, clean/extract and try treating with Nature's Miracle or another enzyme based cleaner.

Boat polish and seal in cooler temps

I'm surprised Collinite is difficult for you in those temps. I'd be careful with Klasse SG on a large, light colored boat. It must be applied thin and that can be difficult on a light colored gelcoat. I'm assuming by large boat we're talking 40'ish and light colored gelcoat. Anyways Klasse...

    Collinite 845IW/Honda Fit paint

Topped it with some Pinnacle Liquid Souveran last Sunday that I got as a sample from AG. Looks nice, hard to say if it is any better than Collinite. It was a lot sunnier than when I took previous pics, but there appears to be more of a glow. Overall I can't say there is a definite difference...

Some products last too long ...

I'm also on the fence with 85. I won't go through enough to justify 32oz. I only bought 32oz of M105 and 205, because there wasn't a 16 oz size.

    First purchase, input please!

Get the Griot's DA. I have both the Griot's and 7424XP and the Griot's is much more powerful. If you can afford to wait, you can eventually buy most Autogeek housebrands on BOGO. I like the DP xtreme foam both with a foam gun and as a bucket wash. The Klasse AIO is a great prewax/presealer...

    Spray bottle preference?

I can tell everyone not to buy the Spray Pro at Lowe's. I've had a couple break on less than a bottle of use. Glad to hear the ZEP's are better.

    Collinite 845IW/Honda Fit paint

Thanks! Her friend's silver Fit is most definitely clear coat. It's also very soft. As always, you'll want to start with the most gentle polish first. I'd be surprised if you ever needed to use 105 on it to remove defects unless they were very deep. There are a couple posts about soft clear...

    Dr. ColorChip

I used it on my truck recently not 100% as advertised, but works well. I'd buy again.

    Collinite 845IW/Honda Fit paint

Forgot to add: It's a 2010 Honda Fit in Milano Red which is a single stage paint. It's also one of the most delicate paints I've ever seen. I corrected it with XMT#1 and a white pad some months back. I also (sorry no pics) did a full correction on her friend's '09 Fit in silver storm...
