How to best clean LC Hydrotech pads??

I also have the XMT Pad cleaner spray (I think it came with the Pad Washer System) and a pad brush. Tried both and neither worked that great. I'm sure I'm probably doin something wrong. I did not try the terry towel on-the-fly method yet though, so maybe I'll try that next time.

    Pure insanity

Well I decided to go with the FG400 and teamed it up with a 5.5" Cyan LC Hydrotech pad and tackled my hood yesterday. Results were FANTASTIC! I also took some of your advice and went with smaller work sections (divided my hood into 6 sections instead of 4). I know I'm new to this, but dare I...

    Same towel?

I have a few of these microfiber towels that I got from Chemical Guys that work really well for me compared to others: Chemical Guys MIC_501 - Ultra Plush Super Premium Microfiber Towel, 16" x 16" But I came across these on the AG site: Special Purchase Light Blue Microfiber Towel They look...

How to best clean LC Hydrotech pads??

Eric, that certainly was not my experience with them. Once again, I've only had hex-logic pads and they came perfectly clean with the pad washer or even by hand after a few sprays of Chemical Guys Pad Cleaner (which I would spray on them undiluted) and rinsing with water. The Hydrotechs didn't...

How to best clean LC Hydrotech pads??

I used some LC Hydrotech flat pads yesterday for the first time. I must say, these pads seem to perform EXTREMELY well! However, I am very new to detailing and machine polishing and have only used one other type of pad before - Hex-Logic foam purchased from Chemical Guys - so I really don't...

    Pad Priming

I've read some threads on this, but just wanted final clarification. I know some of you prime your foam pads with product, but is it equally effective to use a pad conditioner spray? (I currently have CG Polishing Pad Conditioner in my detailing arsenal). Is one method better than the other or...

    wipe down product

I just purchased Griot Garage's Pre-Wax Cleaner. Haven't used it yet, but it seems to be pretty straight forward and it comes ready to use.

    Foam cannon, rinse, then wash?

I clean all four wheels/tires first. Then I rinse entire vehicle (power washer). Then I foam cannon it and let the foam do its job for a few minutes. I don't let the foam dry on the paint, but remember - the advantage of foaming is the foam emulsifies and encapsulates the dirt and carries it...

    Scrape on my aluminum wheel

These guys are a national chain and they can work wonders. A friend of mine used them and they did a great job. They are a "mobile" company too so they come to you. And they are not that expensive for the results. I'd check them out and see if they have a branch near you: Alloy Wheel Repair...

    Pure insanity

Does anyone think that FG400 would be a better or safer option for me than M101 (being that its DAT vs SMAT)?

    Burned clear. How to repair

How did you burn through the clear if you don't mind me asking? What tool / product / pad / technique were you using when it happened?

    Pure insanity

Tuscarora Dave, I've read that M101 has better cut, better finish, and is easier to use than 105. Should I try that instead?

Yes, it is my daily driver. I see your point, and the ones on the hood definitely bother me the most.

    Pure insanity

I do have the 3 1/2 inch backing plate for the PC that accommodates the 4" pads. The problem with the RIDS is that theres quite a bit of them. So should I just work the same size area (approx 2' X 2') with the smaller pads that I was working with the 5 1/2" pads, or do I need to focus on each...

    Pure insanity

Thanks, I hear ya. Although I've seen videos of guys wacking away at vehicles with softer paint than mine with M101 with seemingly no adverse effect, but I could indeed be wrong. As far as cleaning the microfiber pads, do you think the pad cleaning & conditioning brush would work well for...

    Pure insanity

Ok fellas, I'm new to this forum and there seems to be alot of knowledgeable people on here and a ton of good information. So let me get right down to it. I have a white 2011 Mercedes-Benz GLK 350. A few months ago I had it "detailed" and asked the detailer to remove all the swirls in it...
