    Love Bugs!

Unless you come down here in the springtime, you are safe. They don't show up until March or April and then only for about 4-6 weeks.

    Love Bugs!

Wow - they are pretty bad but I just try and rinse them off quick. They do have cement-like blood though...

Hey, you are just down the road from me!

    Blue tape.

Do you have some kind of car store like Autozone or NAPA equivalent there? I got my 3M blue tape at the local Autozone for about $3 US.

    Starting to detail for neighbors?

XMT Pad Maintenance Kit by Pinnacle For your dual action or rotary polisher. You will have to get the XMT 360 separately. But the kit comes with a white, orange, and 2 gray pads and 2 MF towels. We used the heavy swirl removal kit (the same thing, but the XMT 4 instead of XMT 3) on a truck and...

    DP Wheel Glaze-It's easy

I haven't found DP Glaze to be all that hard to work with either. I think putting it on thinly is the key - which can be tough because so much of it likes to stick to your applicator if you use the whole jar at once. I'll have to try your shake and lid method.

    What pad for using XMT360?

What speed did you have your PC or UDM (I'm assuming that's what you used) on? I noticed that I couldn't get rid of much swirling without going very slowly with my PC on 5, but with it on speed 6 it went very quickly and knocked out more of the swirls with the orange pads I was using. The...

    2004 Tundra clearcoat hardness

XMT 360 and orange pad will take care of light swirling, like what you described. It won't take care of any deeper scratches though. Give it a shot, and if the scratches are still there move up to XMT 3 and try again.

    Imagine having to detail this...

He probably finishes and has to go to the front and start all over again.

    What pad for using XMT360?

I would go with orange to get any sort of correction on medium swirled paint or worse. White would just be to clean stuff up, maybe get rid of light swirling, and add the sealant to paint. I didn't notice any marring with the orange pad at all, and it knocked out all the moderate swirls.

    Starting to detail for neighbors?

I would get the intermediate swirl removal kit (comes with XMT 3) and some XMT 360. That way, you will have the XMT 1 and 3 for tougher jobs, and the XMT 360 for light swirl removal that you can do all in one step. The swirl removal kits also come with finishing glaze, pad conditioner and...

    Paper Towels

Yeah, they call them "shop towels" but they really just look like blue paper towels. When you unroll them you can tell the difference - they are pretty thick and don't tear easily.

I think the XMT 360 did a better job on your car than you initially thought it was doing. Nice! What camera do you use?

    Good weekend everybody!

No detailing for me, I'm going for a bicycle ride tomorrow and then jamming with my band in the afternoon. Sunday = lazy.

Car back from the body shop

My yellow car that got a new hood and front bumper repaint is back from the shop. The owner said he usually recommends not waxing for 60 days after a paint. Thing is, with the salt, rain, and yard work crud floating around in my neighborhood, the car will get very dirty. Plus, my sister is...

    '03 Black Porsche

I take it he was happy that he called you after seeing your truck? I love it when the car has never been waxed, just washing it usually shows a nice improvement. Good job!

    Paper Towels

I use the blue shop towels you can get from places like Autozone, they don't lint nearly as much (or at all, really) and are thicker and more absorbent.

    Show N’ Shine Contest (September)

Amazing Turnaround with XMT Line! This was not only the first car I ever detailed, but the first time I ever used the XMT line as well as my Porter Cable 7424. It was a whole lot of firsts! It convinced me to keep working on detailing cars and learning from Autogeek. The results from this truck...

what shoud i use for these swirls (PICS)

I think XMT 3 stands a good shot at getting most of those out. They warn you not to use 4 unless you are really screwed, and I don't think you are quite there yet. You'll have to go on speed 5 or so and really take your time with XMT 3, probably making 2 passes. I don't think it will get out...
