What pad for using XMT360?

Honest question guys,

from what I've read through various posts everyone seems to default XMT360 with an Orange LC pad (or equivalent strength pad) applied via PC or UDM.

Is that sufficient? Does it it need to be buffed off? Or applied with a lighter pad?

I did a Mazda p5 with 360 + white pad and noticed a little difference. The hood was done with 360 + orange pad, but I scared of micromarring.

What's the default guys?
 
You can use both white + orange pad. I've actually used XMT 360 on an Orange LC pad to get rid of micromarring left from a compound. You wont get marring with XMT 360 and an Orange LC pad. You would use the White pad if your only lightly polishing, and you would use the Orange LC pad if you want a little more bite. All up to you bud.

I usually use the orange if I'm working on something that hasn't been recently polished.. Typically use the white if I'm just doing a quick maintenance cleanup on something.
 
This is great as I was wondering the same thing. I really need some XMT 360 but was also afraid of micromarring with the orange pad.

I need to get out of the mindset that it's mainly the pad that will cause the marring. It's obviously also the product that you put on the pad...

as a general rule of thumb, with LC I start with white (med) and move either direction as finish dictates.
 
I would go with orange to get any sort of correction on medium swirled paint or worse. White would just be to clean stuff up, maybe get rid of light swirling, and add the sealant to paint.

I didn't notice any marring with the orange pad at all, and it knocked out all the moderate swirls.

I just used the green LC pad with XMT360 for the first time and wasn't very impressed. Of course I'm a first time user so I was very careful because my car is newer. Used polish until it dissappeared so I know I worked it enough. Car looked much nicer but I didn't get that high reflection gloss. Next time I'll use orange pad, of course car is white so maybe I'm expecting to much.
 
ive never had micro marring with orange pad and 360

What speed did you have your PC or UDM (I'm assuming that's what you used) on? I noticed that I couldn't get rid of much swirling without going very slowly with my PC on 5, but with it on speed 6 it went very quickly and knocked out more of the swirls with the orange pads I was using.

The gloss was also decent but improved much more once I topped it with some wax. I think with white especially you'll probably want another product on top of the sealant that the XMT 360 leaves. You'll see a bigger difference on older cars with the 360 than on a car that's in good shape to start.

Hey Pauly6401 thanks for your reply. I used pc with green pads and then applied Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant, then applied Sig II Soveran. Used speed 5 on PC. I'm a newbie to detailing so I was very careful. You know newer car so I was extra careful and didn't experiment to much. I'm happy with results but I've seen so many great photo's here I guess I expected more reflection and gloss. I'm sure with some more experience I'll get there.
