    Applying Skin Down the Road

Hi Jeff instead of starting a new thread, I have a similar question. If I have recently applied MOHS and Cure to my car (like only last weekend), what is the process I need to do before I can apply cancoat? I don’t want to waste the cure, but at the same time I want the cancoat to stick to...

CQuartz High Spots After One Week

Man, I’m so discouraged from doing my second car after this experience. You really need perfect conditions to do this kind of thing at home - my garage lighting is not the best. Might stick to ‘cancoat’ next time. Was much easier and fault free the last two times I used it.

CQuartz High Spots After One Week

I just want to say curse the high spots !!! They are so hard to see. Applied CQ UK yesterday but found and fixed a few this morning. And then found a few more !! Any tips on finding them? I have trouble seeing them in the garage .. or in the sun .. it’s when I’m not really looking I manage to...

Iron decontamination / clay/ paint maintenance question

Hi all So, after a few months, there's no doubt the car with a MOHS Quartz coating would have attracted some iron, fallout from the environment etc. Will using the gyeon iron spray on a quartz coated car have any detrimental affect on the coating? I'm assuming no, since it's a chemical...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

So I ended doing as you guys advised ... * wash * no need clay, still pristine * 2 stage correction for scratched areas - I did the whole top quarter of the driver door for the heck of it ... * prep wipe-down * blended in 2 layers of can-coat * cured Looks like new again and there is no way...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Thanks for the video - there's very little in it isn't there. If I can save paying $1400 from getting the job done professionally I am happy. I will however adjust my expectations somewhat that I may not / will not get the same longevity out of the enthusiast coating :) Thanks for all the...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

I had a look earlier ... it's SiO2 content is >10% so I expected some protection .. but clearly didn't get that much. Again, as you guys have mentioned, it was never advertised to provide scratch resistance ... just the other stuff they advertise like gloss, water repelling, self cleaning etc...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

All I am really after is to prevent/minimise swirls/scratches from washing - this is after all, where most cars get their swirls from ! I am not after ground breaking scratch resistance. Now, I speak with from experience with my previous car which was professionally coated with Opticoat +. It...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Don't tell me that ... I already have a package of MOHS ready to go lol. I am sure it's definitely going to provide better scratch resistance than the CanCoat but at the same time, I am not expecting errant doors to be bouncing off the MOHS coating

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Ahhh absolutely ! CanCoat was really just the practice run with using the DA polisher for the first time and applying a SiO2 coating. I will just re-do the car with MOHS in 6-12 months. Have to say I have been really happy with the self cleaning and gloss of CanCoat but you guys have pointed...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Gotcha ! I will start with the Polish (2400) as opposed to the Cut (400). Will only use the Cut if necessary.

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

I should update to say a 'scratch' would be an exaggeration and it is more of a marring which could only be seen at certain angles ... Which was then exacerbated by me using my stupid fingers to see if the initial marring would rub out, causing further fine swirls (due to there being I guess...

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Thanks so much guys. Morning ruined already by wife and the scratch lol So much to learn, especially with this being only my second car coated with it. So should i use some masking tape to square off the section I’m going to work on with the random orbital to re-polish ?

Argh ... thanks .. I thought it was clean enough. Washed only a day ago, but noted for future.

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Ok cool. Just had a quick inspection and my few finger rubs has caused a few more scratches !! Thought CanCoat would give it a bit more protection than that ... it’s been over a week. Should have cured already. Maybe I didn’t put enough on there ?

Newly CanCoated car - door scratched - what to do.

Hey guys, the wife has managed to put a light scratch mark on the door. The 2 layers of CanCoat is only a week old .. What are my options ? Go through the cut/polish/finish of the whole door panel or just that small 2” x 2” spot and apply the two layers of CanCoat again ?

Using spray wax on freshly painted bumper

I have been told to wait 30 days before polishing and sealing my bumper bar (can polish now, but do not wax it). I'd just leave it until then.

    CanCoat Application Problems

Is it OK to use a spray wax on top of the CanCoat coating .. I will probably use this alternately on a weekly basis with the bottle of Cure that I am currently using. Only asking because I purchased Duragloss Aquawax in bulk and have maybe 4 litres of it remaining !!! I do not want it to ruin...
