When to use tape and what to tape?

I did my F-250 last month, with Blackfire TP&S (AIO) and a nice coat of wax. The top-of-the-cab ribs were of concern to me, however I was careful and didnt spend to much time with the buffer on the edges of the ribs. Turned out great. If you're worried, you could always do that part by hand.

Brand new 2013 car with swirls

I am new to this game, and I have had fantastic success with Blackfire Total Polish & Seal. It's an All-In-One polish and sealant. My beater truck still has lots of deep scratches, but the paint is shiny and smooth (no swirls) and most of the very minor scratches are gone. Also used it on my...

    Newbie Question

As another new member here, I agree with your idea to practice on another vehicle before you take on the nice one. I did the same. Practiced on my beater truck (95 ranger), prior to taking on the nice truck (F250). You should find out quickly that these machines make you feel like an expert...

    Pads getting hot

Not using any pressure at all. Had to work on that and be really concious of the way I was using the unit, but I think I have the hang of it. Not gonna say that I clean the pads after every section, but I do clean after every 2-3 sections. When I clean the pads, with either the brush or...

    Pads getting hot

Pulled the backing pad off for the first time, and the washer was there. Reinstalled the pad so it doesn't get lost.

    Pads getting hot

All of my extension cords are 14 gauge or better. I have been using very little product. Maybe I'm trying to do too big of an area at one time. Not pushing down on the unit at all. I actually find myself holding it off the paint just a bit, when trying not to apply pressure to it. Thanks...

    Pads getting hot

I am not sure what this is? Guess I'll have to look it up. I have not removed my backing plate since receiving the machine, but it's always worth a check.

    Pads getting hot

Probably read information in here for two solid weeks prior to my first (test vehicle) attempt. Turned out pretty good, but my white CCS pads kept getting very hot at the center where they adhere to the backing plate. One has even started to loose glue and is separating from the black velcro...

I was on 5, per the instructions. Thinking I may slow it down a bit more next time and see if it operates any cooler.

Thanks for responses. -All my extension cords are 14 gauge. -pads are still spinning very fast and I'm not pushing on the buffer, so I feel I'm good there. -2 quarter size dots of product to prime the pad. Then, 2 dime size dots per section. Really didn't use very much to do the entire truck...

Need input on my first polisher

Re: Need input on my first polishee I chose the Gritot's DA (3rd Gen) over the PC based on reviews and the Griot's lifetime warranty. Used mine yesterday for the first time as well. Love it

Hey there all! Received my X-Mas gift last week (Griot's 3rd gen with stuff). Used it for the first time today, on my beater truck to get some practice and figure this whole thing out. Learned some good stuff today. Comments: AG is awesome. So much information. Still trying to digest...
