There's nothing illegal about it, if its your car you just gave it away. The courts won't ask what happen to it since you know longer have it in your possession. In fact there wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Just run it yourself at carfax. or something. It really wouldn't matter, because dealer ships don't always report the accident on a car. I mean I seen dealers cheat the system out of a badly damage car and have it show on car fax as perfect as it can be.
