My first DA detail - 2006 Mustang GT - advice welcome

Not only have I been really bad about having not waxed the car in 4 years but I wasn't doing the best job on the interior either. Here's a shot of the leather seats.

    Making silver paint pop

I've been struggling with this all week. I just did a two day detail on my Tungsten Gray Mustang. M105/M205, Chemical Guys Blacklight and Pete's 53 Pearl. It just feels like it doesn't pop. Granted, lots of factory orange peel and some great reflections. The metallic really shows from...

My first DA detail - 2006 Mustang GT - advice welcome

Yes. I've actually got a different set of wheels I'm getting ready to put on. A BBS F1 style wheel in matte black. Decided to move back from 19's to 18's.

Fixing small bumper dings with heat gun?

That's even smaller than what I've done.

It's just what I was told that using a cleaner removes the oils so the glaze will work properly. Another one of those things where if I'm told wrong I'd love to know.

    New- Mother's Leather Tech

I just saw both tonight. Was really tempted to pick them both up.

Fixing small bumper dings with heat gun?

I've done it but I removed the bumper and applied the heat from the backside.

I forgot to add that I used a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol prior to glazing.

Cream of tartar for cleaning windows

A friend if mine that used to sell detailing supplies had told me about this. Has anyone heard of using a paste made from cream of tartar for cleaning windows? I'm guessing it just makes a mild abrasive?

My first DA detail - 2006 Mustang GT - advice welcome

Just getting started in this whole thing. Car is a 2006 Tungsten Gray Mustang GT I don't really have any before pictures to show how bad the paint was because honestly, it wasn't horribly bad. I just wish the factory orange peel wasn't so horrible. Guy that owned the car before me took care...

    Lake Country Hydro Pads Separating

I'll keep those things in mind. It's just odd that I'm using the same technique on the other pads and the Cyan is the only ones I'm having a problem with.

    Lake Country Hydro Pads Separating

I saw that back in 2010 they were having some problems with the pads. I'll admit I'm still new at this but I've had two Cyan pads (one 6.5 and one 5.5) fail on me. The glue holding the loop/hook seems to be failing and separating from the pad. Hasn't happened on the others. Not sure what's...

Working on bottom edges of the vehicle

Yeah, I'm not quite that low but I have to drive up onto boards just to get my floor jack under the car.

Working on bottom edges of the vehicle

I'll need to do some measuring/etc. As it is now, I do have a set of ramps but I lowered my car and even to use those I need to drive onto a board first in order to avoid the front bumper from hitting the ramp. My current ones also have an edge and aren't quite as wide as my tires so it...

Working on bottom edges of the vehicle

Yeah, just my personal car/detailing so no lift (unfortunately no garage either). Might have to at least look into a roller chair. Right now I'm using an inverted bucket, which sits a bit high and unfortunately, is also stationary.

Working on bottom edges of the vehicle

Does anyone have tips for working along the lower sides of the vehicle? Polishing along the bottom and getting equal pressure/etc seems to be a bit of a pain. I was thinking of placing a couple of 2x8's in a ramp like configuration under the tires on one side and driving up on to them and...

Foam pad suggestions for first time DA user

I did just what your asking. I got two of the lake country hydro packs with the cyan, tangerine and crimson pads.

Not seeing a huge difference between M105 and M205

Nuts. You're right. Not sure how I managed to screw that up. Well, shouldn't be too hard to refinish what I've done. Still looks better than what it did when I started.

Not seeing a huge difference between M105 and M205

I've been polishing my car out. Using a Harbor Freight DA with Lake Country Hydro pads. Using the M105 with a Tangerine pad at 6 and M205 with a Cyan pad at 6. I can see a very subtle difference but if I run a piece of tape across after doing the M101 and apply the M205, I don't really see...
