How can I get better pictures?

The main thing that killed your photos was the composition. You need to have a direction in the photo, ie the car going towards something. By cutting the front of the car off you lose that. First photo would be better if the left was close to he car and the right had some space next to it, for...

    evaluating swirls for a newbee

Not the only way, but if you're new I'd say the best way. Try least aggressive first, it may get your finish to where you are happy, which is the main point. Get some bright light into the panels to inspect your work before/after.

    evaluating swirls for a newbee

Do a test spot, that will let you know what works and what doesn't, then when you dial in what will work do the entire car ;)

CCS pads, do you like them?

OK, I've read consistently that most people seem to hate the CCS pads, so then why do so many kits come with them? They seem to be in the majority of kits so either the people who hate them just yell a lot louder than those who like them, or, they really aren't very good... I got a kit recently...

Menzerna SW-PROTECT vs Meguiars Ultimate Liquid wax

Hi all, about 2 weeks ago a applied Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax to my car (after a good clay) and then last week I completely detailed my boot using menzerna products PG100, then SF45500 then SW-PROTECT (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/51944-first-time-da-great-results.html)...

What may I ask am I doing wrong now ?

Wow, so many steps with the menzerna range! Here is what I did last week on my daily driver http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/51944-first-time-da-great-results.html My only suggestion would be putting on a second layer of your LSP. I found that when I did this (using a DA) it...

    Grit Guard ?

Mine can turn, but not move side to side. When I rub my mitt on it I go up and down or left to right rather than twisting. You wouldn't want it to move left to right in your bucket though, that's way too lose.

Attention photographers! What lens to buy?

this guy has some stuff about nikon ;) KenRockwell.com: Photography, Cameras and Taking Better Pictures You need to be specific about which lenses you're refering to, nikon has many 50mm/1.8 lenses, as they keep bringing out new ones! The 50mm/1.8 is a fantastic lens, I use mine all the time...

another opti-coat thread. why does my roof bead different?

I'm a noob to all this stuff but have done a bit of reading, would iron x work for the OP? Also, can you show us some shots of the clear coat failing, maybe it's "safe" to compound it and you think it's worse than it is....

First time with a DA: great results????

Thanks guys, positive words always go a long way, so I really appreciate it! The menzerna products were easy to use, only thing I stuffed up majorly was not changing the speed of the polisher for waxing, that resulted in a lot of dusting!!!!

First time with a DA: great results????

Thanks, I've been caring for my car with turtle wax stuff for the past 10ish years, so I've known about keeping it clean blah blah blah, but I was doing it all wrong!!!!! Sponge with 1 bucket, or car wash, thick layers of wax, so taht it lasted better (my ignorance!!!!). But yeah, this made me...

First time with a DA: great results????

Hi guys, I recently got my DA polisher (it's a concours 900, Australian brand, basically a porter cable) and finally got to use it today!!!! I got with it a menzerna pack and some 6.5 CSS pads. Menzerna pack is: PG1000 PF2500 SF4500 SW-PROTECT (I'm keen to get some powerlock or WGPS 3.0) Pads...

    Mid-Grade Gasoline (89 Octane)

Higher octane = more power If you chose to drive the same way (when i say this I mean 0-30 in the same time as you did before, as opposed to gas peddle in the same position as before) then you should use less fuel to achieve this. You should you AT LEAST what the manufacturer recommends. I...

Is this defective? Or am I paranoid...

Australian distributor (waxit) are sending me a new pad, they seem to have very good service! Bobby, I sent a test from my phone and from a computer, both seemed to work, strange, maybe it's my home computer that doesn't like you....

Is this defective? Or am I paranoid...

I always like the line "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people". Also, BobbyG, I tried to send you a PM in reply to the tips you gave me regarding the menzerna products, but I got an error... Maybe your inbox is full? It gave me some internal error and I'm able to still PM others so...
