    Clear Bra / Wax Issue

I have xpel ultimate on my car. I use BF Midnight Sun paste wax, which is a wipe on wipe off wax. So, it doesn't dry before you wipe it off. For other (and good practice in general), non-WOWA waxes: wipe in straight lines and move from the clear bra down to the paint. That way, it won't build...

    4" pads burning and warping

Thanks for the excellent explanation Mike. It seems to me that an open cell foam pad like the cyclo pads would be a better fit for me. I wonder if the buff 'n shine pads are also open cell...which would explain them not warping like the hydro tech pads. And yes, compression washer installed

    4" pads burning and warping

Thanks for the responses. I usually run it at speed 6 with the 4" pads... sometimes at 5. On the trickier surfaces where the body lines change alot (which is where I use the smaller pads to begin with), the pad would stop rotating because it is tough to stay parallel with the surface. For...

    4" pads burning and warping

I use a PC 7424 XP with a 3.5" backing plate and 4" pads. The backing plate and pads get very hot. In fact, my LC Hydro Tech 4" pads get burnt and warped after minimal usage. The orange cutting pad below is the most extreme example. You can see the burnt area in the middle of the white...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

"on the road" is the terminology used in the article you presented. I was simply quoting that. http://www.autonews.com/article/20130806/RETAIL/130809922?template=mobile&X-IgnoreUserAgent=1

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

The reverse could be true in other cases when talking about medians. However, it would not make sense when talking about cars. The older a car gets, the less likely it will be that it is still on the road. Therefore, there are more "newer" cars on the road. But, the average is higher than...

Opticoat 2.0 discontinued, OptiCoat Pro sees price increase

Agree. It eliminates outliers (i.e. a minority of cars that are way older), which can skew the numbers

What to do before I reapply wax

Thanks guys. I'll give it a thorough 2 bucket wash and apply another layer of wax. Claying shouldn't be necessary since I just did it 5 weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

What happend to my nano skin?

I use a Speedy Prep "clay" towel, which uses a rubber technology for decontamination (is that what nanoskin uses?) I did my whole car 2 times with it. Then, when I did my mom's car it left behind marks that are strikingly similar to the ones you have. I used a ton of detail spray, so...

What to do before I reapply wax

Newb question here, bare with me. About 5 weeks ago I polished my car, sealed with BFWD, then waxed with Midnight Sun. Now, I would like to apply another layer of wax. Can I simply do a normal wash then apply the wax? Should I clay first, or would that remove sealant?
