Will the new Opt Finish clean up 105??

I would really like to avoid a three step process if I can so my question is whether or not the new Optimum Finish is aggressive enough to clean up the purple Megs foam pad with 105 or should I perhaps stick to the yellow Megs pad? Both of these products are new to me, thanks Meghan for your...

Used Rotary for the First Time

Menzerna is a great polish but maybe not for us newbies especially with a rotary. I have been using my OC and OP quite a bit with my Makita and the long working time is a godsend. I just keep making passes with the OP until it has virtually disappeared on the panel and it seems to work real...

does it have to be halogen?

I have read that some of the powerful LED flashlights also work well for swirl detection. Google Fenix TK10 and you will see something that is a popular choice. Warning, not a cheap light by any means though. Pat.

    2007 Honda Civic Si

Looking at the process described it looks good but are you planning on all those paint correction steps? I wonder why you would need to apply the XMT on a PC after you compounded and polished with the rotary? That seems kind of like overkill to me. I can't see how you will improve the finish...

    Wax the kitchen faucet?

I put sealant on our one piece shower/tub so the soap scum doesn't stick to the sides. It makes cleanups way less frequent and the tub looks better when its dry. I also take my rotary and a soft foam pad to the top of our glass cooktop and use the recommended polish to remove all the gunk that...

    my website

Site looks really nice. Your prices are very reasonable to if the work is good. I am pretty sure I paid just as much for a regular exterior wash with no claying or polishing as you charge for the full deal, and that was over 15 years ago. I do all my own stuff now. Good luck with your business...

Where to buy microfiber in super bulk

I am no microfiber expert but I have to say that just the look and the feel of a quality towel separates them from the dime store cheapos. Those grey 530 gram towels feel like a soft pillow rubbing on my finish. Way nicer then the Target towels or any other inexpensive ones in my garage. I keep...

    XMT Products

I agree the XMT line is really good for a DA. They broke down way too fast and dusted like crazy with a rotary though. Pat.

    Craigslist detailing adds

$105 to clean, compound and polish a mid-size car. I would say thats a full days job. So take off the price of the supplies and you make what $90. $11 bucks an hour for quality paint correction not deducting overhead costs, I don't think so. I am going to bet on quick wash, and a good hiding...

    Slowly getting better...

I am starting to get better resutls with my paint correction but have a couple of questions. Worked on a 04 Optra in black metallic this afternoon. Paint was pretty bad with lots of RDS from a young girl using the wrong end of a snow brush to clean the car off this wnter. Not pretty...LOL...

    Preserving Black Paint

You might want to consider layering a sealant or adding a tough wax on top of that Klasse' to protect your finish. Collinite 845 lasts a long time and their 476 paste wax is supposed to last a year. Pat.

    Backing Plate Problem

Well here is a link to the owners manual of the WP1300. According to black and decker it is a random orbital polisher that is to be used with the supplied bonnets only for wax application. http://www.bdhobby.com.br/manu/WP1300K.pdf All the sites I find for this tool are in spanish and other...

    Will this combo work??

The only wool I own is the one that came with the Makita and a blue wool edge pad, are any of those acceptable for applying the 105? Pat.

    Backing Plate Problem

Looked up your B&D WP1300...not a rotary..random orbital polisher. It looks much like a rotary but that is probably the reason they want you to use their backing plate and those bonnets and not the aftermarket pads. Pat.

    "I'ts all Geek To Me"

Maybe its just me but sometimes figuring out the acronyms is half the fun. After a few years on here I know a lot of them but always discovering new ones as I read. Pat.

    Backing Plate Problem

I am going to guess that the B&D is not a professional style buffer. Standard shaft on a rotary is 5/8 and thats the size of the backing plate that you received. Does the manual for the B&D say what size thread you do have? Maybe very difficult to find non-standard size backing plates. Maybe...

    Will this combo work??

I have the older formulation of Optimum Polish. The white bottle with the black label. It was the one available up until I noticed the newer style product a few weeks ago. So this would be a better option than the PF203?? Pat.

How do you tell if a detailer really knows their stuff?

Have them give you at least three references of previous customers. Ask to see some before/after pictures if possible might be helpful as well. I find it hard to believe that no one in the Phoenix area is an Autogeek. Pat.
