TOT, FMC, CAS, CSS, TOC----unless you spent timein the Army, you probably wouldn't know these acronyms.

I think that we are doing a disservice to our new members, by using our
own secret codes. I know we have published a host of quick references,
but maybe we can be more helpful by spelling things out more--I think
they would appreciate it.

Nice Idea. If you really want to get creative you could post a link to the product on the AG website where possible.

There is a decoder ring on autopia, maybe with ag's relationship they wouldn't mind if it was copied and used over here?

:iagree: Good call IMG, very good...........nobody likes to feel like a dummy, or they need to learn a whole new Language.................good call. youre' always looking out for the other person........thats a good trait !!

Well I'm new here and it is baffling to me. One thing that I would like to see is the list a little more categorized. As an example...All the major product makers then their products.....Meguiars then sub -category polish...sub wax and so on. Include the numbers where so indicated.

Then put in other acronyms for things like ISO, LSP etc.

I want to do this but the list is endless and for now I have 2 of them from different sites and alot of the products aren't on either or the abbreviations don't match.

I'm gonna add this to my wish list...lol

Let's use the KISS principle and keep it simple and spelled out where possible.

This is a great thread. I think it is best to spell out the full name the first time it is mentioned in a post, and any future references to the same product or term can then be abbreviated. This way, forum browsers are not totally clueless when searching past threads.

Maybe its just me but sometimes figuring out the acronyms is half the fun. After a few years on here I know a lot of them but always discovering new ones as I read.

Pat.

It's probably just you. I'm too lazy to go searching for the answers.:D

I think it would be nice to spell it out as the thread starts but yes you can abbreviate after that, important thing is if you are new and you do not know what something means, just ask.... if you don't want to ask in the thread please PM me. This forum is here to serve the new members and the old so lets share what we know.
