    Can I top D301 with a sealant?

+1 The solvents in AIOs, sealants and waxes are fairly similar so the application of a paint sealant will essentially "re-dissolve" the layer that is already on the surface. With that said, the approach may not be ideal for durability but I think you'll still reap most of the benefits of the...

    HD adapt Hologoram/Marring

Really not a fan of those pads. I would prefer the new Meguiars Foam Discs in this application. Pick up a few of the red cutting discs and the yellow polishing ones.

Ruh Row... talked to Santa and ordered a 3401 - Shhhh don't tell CarMomma!

I guess I don't quite get the excitement, but glad that you are excited about your purchase. I sold my 3401 a long time ago and replaced it with the Rupes 21, Duetto and 75e. Between those 3 machines, I have not missed the 3401. At all. In fact, after some training and practice, I find this to...

    Menzerna 3-in-1

Hey guys, I know some of you (in addition to smack) have already had the opportunity to use this product, and I would like to hear your feedback on it. Commentary around usability, cut and finishing are of interest. I am especially curious if this product has any relation to the Uber AIO...

    HD adapt Hologoram/Marring

Adapt should work fine here. Use speed 3-4, and shrink down your work area significantly. I stay with 12-18" square, and make 7-8 passes. Adapt has a very long work cycle if you use it correctly - and you need to run it for awhile in order for the oils to properly breakdown.

Vote for Coatings vs Sealants for Gloss, Pop, Candi-coat

Opti-Seal has a fairly "glassy" and candied look to it. UK adds a ridiculous amount of darkening and overall gloss, but gives more of a plastic/glossy look. The most recent version of Opti-Coat Pro has a warm, wet look to it. CQuartz Finest v6 is just plain glossy with minimal darkening -...

07 Honda CRV - NBP - major correction - Pinnacle Auto Detail - CT

There isn't anything ridiculous about this car, IMO. Considering how soft the paint is, it really isn't difficult for the owner to let it get to that state. BTW - The KBM 205 method works really well on these finishes. It levels the defects very quickly, but does leave a noticeable amount of...

Meguiars D301 - How long does it last?

I finally had a chance to give this stuff a try. Very very easy wipe off and overall usability. Just enough cut with the mf disk to remove clay marring and some very light swirls and haze. Unfortunately the mf disk was still a bit too aggressive foe the finish that I was working on, and left a...

The Rupes UHS System - Just a few comments after using it all day...

Thanks Mike. I am tempted to order this system, but I have had such incredibly good results with HD Adapt and the Rupes Yellow pads that I really cannot imagine a better result...at least from a cut/finish standpoint. I'll keep a close eye on what the reviewers say, but for now, I'll continue...

    Having a hard time

Try wiping in only one direction, and also keeping your towel folded in quarters at all times. Pay attention to where yore wiping, and frequently turnover the towel to confirm that you did not pickup any grit. Keep the towel away from trim. Lastly, are you putting your wash mitts and towels...

    New member from California

Welcome! I would suggest swapping out the Black Label for CQuartz UK or Glosscoat, but that is up to you. I'm in Walnut Creek myself. Hopefully you can make it out to our next meet.

REVIEW - New Megs Foam Discs!

I just ordered a 6-pack of the Cutting Foam Discs. Based on Wills' review, I have some high expectations for these. I will keep everyone posted on my findings.

    rupes21 stall too much

The learning curve is just steeper with the Rupes. Early on, I had rotation issues as well. It just takes a while, and after you get some experience with handling the machine, most of your rotation issues will go away.

    Why can't I get out M101 haze?!

Usually the quickest way to get rid of heavy DAs haze/micromarring is to use the same product again, but on a medium foam pad. If you don't have any foam pads, you can try D302 on a finishing disc.

    Why can't I get out M101 haze?!

M101 on a medium foam pad should knock down the haze to a minimal level.
