Thats why you dont use the tape when detailing ever. You buff away so much then you have to buff enough to level the edges. You dont need a tape line to see before and afters. But, best of luck. I would try buffing a little more on the line to level it.

after 3000 grit, you have to compound and polish them. Then the haze will go away. Also dont touch them with Mineral spirits. Clean them with dawn and water or IPA and do a rinse after with plain water. Then seal or opti-coat them. I do professional headlights.
