Polishing Modern Single Stage Paint vs Antique Single Stage Paint

No chance in talking to the painter. Thanks for your input. I'll see what I can do with just compounding. Not sure when I will get to it, but I will be sure to post before and after shots. Thanks again.

Polishing Modern Single Stage Paint vs Antique Single Stage Paint

No problem Mike... Actually it seems that merlin and I are looking for the same type of information, although I will not have the pleasure of working on such a car as a 54 Corvette. The neighbors car is a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. I am not sure if I want to attempt to wet sand prior to...

Polishing Modern Single Stage Paint vs Antique Single Stage Paint

A neighbor of mine has a car that he told me was repainted by Maaco a few years ago. The paint is a metallic light blue and is dull, oxidized and fish-eyed. I wasn't sure if his car was clear coated, so I tested a spot with a white microfiber and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. From my test spot...

    Foam Gun wash question

I haven't done any searching on the subject, but it could be that some might use a high sudsing soap in the gun to get a lot of foam (which might be more expensive), and then another soap in the bucket to wash with. If your not looking to get LOTS of foam, then it really doesn't matter. Just...

Dawn power dissolver don't use it!

Thanks for testing and sharing this info. I have used DPD in the past, but no more. Even though your test was overkill, I do not wish to shorten the lifespan of my pads.

    Poorboys Trim Restorer (PBTR) Help

Ok, I finally got the PBTR to work. I stripped the trim with general purpose cleaner and then did an IPA wipe down. I reapplied PBTR and it's looking pretty good right now. That's PBTR on the main section in the center of the pic and MUC on the section to the right.

    Poorboys Trim Restorer (PBTR) Help

Well I cleaned it, as in I washed the car, but I did not strip it with IPA or something. I think the last protectant I had on there was DG 253 TRD. I wonder if that caused the problem. I am stripping a test section today and will try again. I'll let you know how it turns out.

    Drying Surbuf Pads?

I agree, I do my LC and similar pads the same way. But the surbuf pads have glue on both sides. One side for velcro backing and the other side for the micro fingers.

    Drying Surbuf Pads?

I have read that after washing foam pads, it is best to lay them out faced down to dry so gravity pulls the water away from the glue velcro backing. Surbuf pads have a foam center, and I assume a glued on velcro backing, along with the glued on microfingers on the opposite side. So what...

    Pads

Great post. I would like to see this too. I am just getting ready to order some LC flat 5.5 pads after using the LC 5.5 CCS pads. I don't know if I am making the right move (from ccs to flats). The CCS pads just don't seem to last very long for me. Will I run into the same problem with the...

    Poorboys Trim Restorer (PBTR) Help

Thanks, I think I'll do that. I really want to try to get it to work and see how it will look and last if applied correctly. I am just scratching my head wondering why it wouldn't work. I never had this problem with other trim products. I just applied over what ever was left on there. I'll...

    Poorboys Trim Restorer (PBTR) Help

First off, I apologize for the pictures, I only had a camera phone to use. I am having trouble with the application of Poorboys Trim Restorer (PBTR). I just received my purchase yesterday and was eager to try it out. So I washed the old 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager (nearing 200k miles on her)...
