The Hype vs Effectiveness When You Start Your Car Detailing Business

You're a hack if you don't have the proper skills and equipment to address your customers needs. What you listed for $100 is exactly that. Poor quality tools and minimal supplies. Good luck using degreaser on LCD screens, sensitive plastics and instrument clusters. It's unrealistic and...

The Hype vs Effectiveness When You Start Your Car Detailing Business

Do you own a detailing business? What you listed is not even in the ballpark of being able to do a "professional" interior job.

I'm not sure if you're serious? Do you own a detailing business?

The Hype vs Effectiveness When You Start Your Car Detailing Business

If you're focusing on paint correction you SHOULD have many different polishes, pads and machines even if you're just starting out. I personally have around 10-12 different polishes and many different pads because of how clear coat varies so much in hardness and softness. There have been times...

    Glass buffing tools

I've found it's easier to just have the windshield replaced than deal with the headache of POSSIBLY removing the scratches and dealing with the aftermath mess. If you're really set on correcting/polishing glass I suggest doing it before you wash the car.

Not impressed at all w/ klasse AIO

This was after using Klasse AIO on a 2003 VW GTI. The paint was washed and clayed prior to using Klasse by machine. This is the condition of the paint afterwards... It does remove very light hazing/swirls but it's not what you're going to want to use on a brand new car. I love Klasse AIO.

City prohibits running business from home garage

The vast majority of people will not care you're running a business from your home. There are always a few who HAVE to complain and be negative about everything, and that's typically who will be bothering you (if they even do). I think you'll be fine if you go about it without getting your...

How to judge cost of services?

Hourly rate largely depends on your experience and skill set. Starting out I didn't have the best tools and products so naturally my hourly rate was lower because I just didn't have my process down. Now I have a great pressure washer, steamer, tons of different brushes, tools, vac attachments...

City prohibits running business from home garage

Why don't you appeal it and have your property re-zoned? I had the same issue until I filed for an appeal, had a hearing and they re-zoned my property residential/commercial. It did cost ~$250 but it's well worth it to be able to have a sign out front. Board of zoning and appeals. Look into it.

    Fair price for close friends?

I would be charging close to $550-600 for a full interior, wash, Clay, Polish and sealant. I would charge $225. Wash, Clay, LSP. Full interior shampoo, steam and clean all surfaces. $325 total to use an AIO and $500 total to polish.

    Suggest A Simple Price Structure

Select an hourly wage for yourself and charge everything by the hour. For example, it takes me 2 hours to do a deep clean wash, clay, dry, sealant. I charge $90-130 for this service depending on the condition and size.

Website makeover. Opinions please (and a question on HTML for the geeks)

Looks great. I would center the page, rather than have it left-justified. So the gap on either side of the content is equal. Contact weebly and see if they can help you figure out why the header logo isn't fixed when you select it to be. Your gallery page is also a loading nightmare. Maybe...

New guy, and some of my work!

IMO Uber is one of the best, it foams up nicely and really clings to the wheel when sprayed. You also can't beat Iron-X.

Marketing of Opti-Lens for Headlight Restoration

I don't mention it, I just mention it's one of the best headlight coatings and the product claims to last forever, but expect to get 2-5 years out of it. You could offer a 2 year warranty with it and up charge. If you want two different headlight restoration options.
